I am looking for a good, easy to use software to make my own game. Not to make money but just for the joy of being able to design my own game and share with people.

I can't program, but I can conceptualize / draw / use photoshop and have a few ideas.

I have designed my own levels for a flash based platform shooter called Plazma Burst 2.

So far, I have tried out 2 game making softwares. "Engine" and "Game editor". One is too complicated and the other is too glitchy.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Actually, I want to make a good old school style platform game with atmospheric backgrounds.... complex level design.... epic boss battles... power ups.... hidden doors etc. The kind I grew up playing.

No problem at all. If you don't find what you need or need some guidance related to a application just shout.

If you are looking to develop a FPS style game you can use the CryEngine for free. You can develop some awesome stuff with it for sure.

I'm not too sure how far you'll get developing any game without some coding knowledge though. Even if you used an existing game engine and developed new visuals for it, you'll still be limited to the rules offered in the engine. With so many games out there these days you really need to find an unique aspect of the game to compete.

Not raining on your parade at all though - I hope you are successful in your project!

Yeah... thats what I am looking for... a game engine which lets me add my own graphics.
I was able to create some pretty decent stuff on the Plazma Burst 2's existing engine.

That program was so easy to use that I learnt how to make complex levels within a week.
