The US is on the way out as a hegemonic power.


That is the primary conclusion of a new report out of the National Intelligence Council -- a government organization that produces mid-term and long-range thinking for the US intelligence community.

Titled Global Trends 2030: Alternative Worlds, this 140-page study says emphatically that the “relative decline” of the US is “inevitable,” but adds that its future role in the international system is “much harder to project,”

It also seems that US 'leaders' have no clue what they are doing. The powers that be have decided to go away from the Buch/Cheney 'Project for a New American Century'. It didnt work.

It seems that everyone agree's that America is losing its power. I wonder how long the Federal Government can keep the Reserve Currency Status.

Asia will wield more global power than the US and Europe combined by 2030, a forecast from the US intelligence community has found.

Within two decades China will overtake the US as the world's largest economy, the report adds.

It also warns of slower growth and falling living standards in advanced nations with ageing populations.

Global Trends 2030, issued to coincide with Mr Obama's second term, says it aims to promote strategic thinking.

Not so much the decline of the US but the rise and global domination of Asia in the not too distant future. Oh well - what goes around comes around.

The report says the US will be "first amongst equals". Isnt that in Animal Farm? Something similar.

It also says the US will be superpower even though it will not have the largest economy. Maybe that is true because China is still finding its way, or crossing the river while feeling for stones with their feet or whatever. The US has more friends.

Money does talk though.

The way we're going as a country, 2030 seems mighty optimistic!

But we are better prepared (as a nation) for the zombie apocalypse.

Honestly I worry more about Chinas future than the US. They have some very very hard times coming and how they respond could throw the Asian Pacific region into chaos. That of course is bad for the US and everyone else.

The real reason for the rise and fall of empires is their moral standing before God.

Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin condemns any people.

Both Britain and the US were given great blessings when they were the source of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world. These days it is difficult to find genuine christians in these nations. China has more christians as a percentage of their population and so they are on the rise.

A recent Barna poll shows that only 4% of Americans have a Biblical worldview and if you go into a supposed Bible believing church that only rises to 10%. Some denominations, like the catholic church actually suppress christianity, reducing the number with a christian worldview down to 1%.

Basically those without a christian worldview, but claim to be christians relegate Jesus to the status of Santa Claus or the tooth fairy, with regards to how much effect it has on their lives.

The moral collapse in America has brought God's judgment. So we are given evil presidents like Obama and the populace is easily brainwashed and swayed by appeals to their sin nature such as greed and envy (e.g. punish the wealthy, make them pay their 'fair' share). We see an increased number of natural disasters and an increase in lawlessness.

America could easily be restored to greatness if there was genuine repentance. Perhaps that will happen once the Chinese cauterize our urban liberal hell holes with nuclear fire. I prefer repentance first.

I could not agree more. When the Roman empire stopped worshipping the Flying Spaghetti Monster, they too fell from grace. Oh wait... no actually that happened when they TURNED TO CHRISTIANITY.

Or are you saying you'd happily accept your American cities being wiped out by China's 'nuclear fire' if it creates a moral climate that you prefer. I think if you're willing to see millions of people wiped out if it introduces your favoured moral climate, then your moral climate is primarily made up of clouds leaking crap and a warm front of arse-gas.

when you're sick, do you get in bed or run around in the cold telling everyone you're sick...making them sick too and giving yourself pneumonia before you die?

America fears a loss of power, becomes afraid, picks up it's guns and starts pushing people around.

Sometimes you need to rest by admitting that you can do no more and it's better to collapse and rest than push yourself and die. It's a chance for America to assess it's fears, lay low and prepare once again to face the world and all the things it worries about.

Well, you seem to be a fan of judgement. The East judges America in exactly the same way as America judges the East. Is there a reason China shouldn't have nukes trained on America? What's so special about America that it gets a free pass. After all, America has got a history of bombing other countries with this type of weaponry.

Sure no problem. That culture evolved into the world empire known as Byzantium which thrived for 1000 years. The Roman empire itself from the time of Ceasar to the Goth invasion lasted how long? 400 years? Thus actually christianity prolonged Roman culture in the east.

The western church adopted the religion of pontificus maximus or the chief pagan priest of Rome. (That was his title.) The real question might be why has God tolerated the existence of the whore of Babylon for thousands of years? The foretold end of the whore is coming soon fortunately.

If I care to speculate, I think God fragmented western civilization to give a chance for authentic christianity to flourish after the reformation, in places like Switzerland, Germany, England and the US. Now God's spirit is moving in other countries in Africa and Asia and is abandoning the post christian West. In this way all the world will come to know Christ prior to the end.

If there were 10 righteous men in Sodom God would have spared it, as he promised Abraham. Those who did love God were given a chance to flee. Because there is still a remnant of righteous, even in a place as dark as San Francisco (and I know a few of them personally), he stays his hand. Eventually the time will be right and judgment will surely fall. It will also come upon the whole world, so don't rejoice overly when the US falls.
