I was reading a post on a gay man killed and people protesting against gays at his funreal. Now i want to ask, is it not a sin to kill for god?

Its says not to take the Lords Name In Vein, i personally belive this meens not to do things of this nature in the Lords Name. Is it not truly bad to kill some on in the name of God. Who is any one here to judge God, let those with out sin cast the first stone.

I dont thik god would want us to kill for him, i think if a war came where it was christians vs any thing else that it would be the christian thing to do to not to fight. To let god handle it, God says not to condem some one of another religon, so why would you kill another human being, another soul, in the name of God? I just think that people get so mad about what there religon is, and forget that they pride it as a religon of love, now im not saying you have to love gay people, but im pretty sure your not supposed to kill them either.

I am not religous, but I know this much.

"Vengence is mine" sayeth the Lord.

One of the ten commandments,

"Thou shalt not kill"

God gave us freedom of choice.

Everybody makes their own choices.

When I stand at the Gates of Purgetory, I know my slate will be clear.

"Fighting over religion is basically fighting over who has the better imaginary friend." ~ United States President Jimmy Carter at the Camp David peace accord talks.

Historically, religion has killed millions, and is nothing new. The only real change that our modern age has brought is that the weapons are different. Instead of dieing at the point of a crusader's sword people are killed by a suicide bomber or a helicopter gunship.

Why kill? I don't know really, anger, hatred, power, an oasis filled with virgins, I don't believe there is just one reason.

May Peace Travel With You Though

Within the bible (old testament) god clearly gives the command to kill on many occasions.

however within christianity (new testament) there should never occur a nessesity to kill a man for god.
(this does not mean that christianity is opposed to the death sentence for major criminals)

It seems that Jesus wants us to follow his example. this is the difference between christian martyrdom and martyrdom, christian martyrdom is self sacrafice without killing others

i hope this answers your question

Ask yourself the question why people kill at all?

Some examples may include:
Anger
Greed
Fear

At the moment, we hear people killing in the name of God.

On the other side of the fence we hear americans killing to stop terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.

My opinion is that you should not kill under any circumstances. Who are you to take someone elses life?

My opinion is that an all loving God would not want you to blow up innocent children and adults in his name. As a matter of fact, he doesnt want you killing anyone period!

By a person killing another person, you are casting judgement on him. You are saying, "you are guilty and deservent of death". From what I know of the bible, only God has the right to judge!

Live by the simple rules 'Do to others as you would have done yourself'

Simple..................

Take Son of Sam, or any other serial killer. They kill because God (or the Devil) told them to.

Yeah, okay. The Bible says thou shall not kill, and the Satanic Bible says to respect all life. Real good creeds for mass murderers.

These people kill because they are driven to it, to either get their kicks, or because they feel driven. Blaming a diety is either giving themselves comfort in knowing what they are doing is "right", or giving them an escape... "hey, I can't be blamed, God made me do it."

If you believe that you are killing someone in the name of the Lord you have been brainwashed by your religion. A sin to kill for God? A God of love would certainly not ask anyone to kill.

As for Christians God does not really give a good example does he? he tells you not to kill in the 10 commandments but he does, in fact he is genocidal- Joshua was told by God to wipe out the Canaanites. Joshua killed for the God of complete love?

Then Jesus comes in the new testament saying turn the other cheek and the MEEK will inherit the Earth we are told to take it all on the chin in this life and we will be rewarded in heaven.

The bible is a dangerous pacifier of the human will to resist persecution.

Gay people are people too, how can you blame someone for their sexuality? its not their fault is it? Those people protesting at that mans funeral are persecuting others because of their bigoted views. Were these people Christians too?

Taking anyones life is wrong full stop.

I agree Jesus doesnt ask that we kill in the name of the lord. Its not our place to be the judge, jury and executioner. God will judge man according to his standards and should be allowed to do so without interference from man. Jesus teaches love, compassion and peace we should all follow his word to find true happiness.
