Personal "WTF?!" moment. White flashes coming from the trees!

I know im really late and this is an old post, but I just can't help it this just happened to me except the what I would call white sparks were right next to me coming off the trees. I did notice that in the distance there was a huge storm so possibly its electrically charged particles from the storm I have no idea and I don't know why anyone else has an explanation.
