So my son has that zombie poster that is blue/red and says "BRAINS" instead of "HOPE". He wants it in a t-shirt, but it is copyrighted. So i made this one:

Took about 30 layers total, but i like the outcome.

since it isn't copyrighted (home made), it should make it past the printers at CustomInk.com

as with everything I have done, it is free to anyone who wants it. I have it in a size large enough to make tshirts from (a single print at CustomInk is around $25). All one needs to do is ask.

Early next week our second round of shirts will be delivered. I made the alien head a few pages back for me, one for my wife (that has the cadeuceous and "nurses rock" on it), and two more for the son (the "come and take it" flag from Texas history, and a Don't Tread On Me reversed so it is on a black shirt instead of yellow).

The first round was our own personalized team apparel for the local high school. Their designs all sucked, and everyone had them. It is where I decided to use some of the things I have learned in this thread (and its forerunner) to design our own stuff. No one else in 500 sq miles has any of it (yet....but i have generated lots of interest from folks who want me to run prints for them).

I don't mind telling this here because I am not making money. I am just sharing what I have made for myself with others.

Tex

If I ever meet you, and don't think it isn't a possibility.

I'm going to take you and your no doubt gorgeous Latin Goddess out to dinner as a personal thank you for all you've done to help make ATS the community it is.

for traditional media especially, that is good work. The litmus test is: can you tell who it is supposed to be?" And in the case of that image, you absolutely can.

Very nice. Its a shame about your niece though. Sounds like she needs a Metallica intervention.

Everything that's made by yourself can be printed , also work from other artists can be printed on shirts or whatever , but when you're going to use it commercially it's gonna be a different game I think.

Thank you
The funny thing was she liked the picture but didn´t like the earrings, so she cut a new pair of earrings from some catalog and glued them in place

Depends, celebrities are under fair use, also limited for noncommercial use but graphics are copyrighted. Copyright holds for 75 years after that its under free use ( some cases if copyright owner is a estate of deceased artist they can ask more years to hold the copyrights ).

Fair use with graphics, means not the whole picture is remade just an small part of it.
fair use simply explained

And when using copyrighted work on personal projects like T shirts etc it´s always a good idea to ask permission from the original copyright holder, it doesn´t hurt asking and the permissions are often granted, at least that could save you from problems
I asked once to use one pic of Julie Bell`s art and i was granted permission, just saying its not impossible.

Love me some Dio.

"can't you hear me knocking" is on my daily work playlist. I have a small subwoofer under my desk. When it comes on, that opening riff....i love to turn it up. I do the same with Van Halens "Hot For Teacher". The opening drums sound just like an alcohol burning drag engine.
