McAfee conspiracy or a paranoid nut job?

John McAfee who is wanted for questioning in a murder case by the Belize authorities is hiding out somewhere with a 20 year old girlfriend. In recent interviews he claimed that he is being punished for not donating $ 2,000,000 to the Belize government. And his conspiracy theory is pretty awesome.

Here's the story...

In his beach front property where he lives with 20 year old girlfriend and eleven dogs he also has a drug lab. The Belize police first accused him of running a meth lab, then accused him of running an illegal antibiotics lab but he states that he is researching a "magical" plant with antiseptic potentials and has nothing to do with any kind of illegal drugs or antibiotics. His neighbor who was drunk all the time (per McAfee) and didn't like his dogs barking at night was found dead the day after McAfees dogs were poisoned. The authorities believe that he killed his neighbor for killing his dogs. He states that it's a setup by the government and if he turns himself in they will kill him.

He also apparently has a sense of humor, because he says that he was only joking when he posted some things on a drug forum board asking how to make a drug that gives people 'hyper-sexuality and euphoria" out of bath salts.

Hello Everyone. I've been lurking here for years and just recently decided to join up. I'm hoping to get some help here. I'm a huge fan of MDPV. Not the white hydrochloride - it's inconceivable that anyone on the planet would willingly put that into their bodies -- I'm talking the freebase form. I think many of you that don't bother to freebase it yourself have at least tasted the freebase version when it was widely available as "tan mdpv". I think it's the finest drug ever conceived, not just for the indescribable hypersexuality, but also for the smooth euphoria and mild comedown. My question is this: How can I more easily separate the oil from the precipitate using some mechanical means?

He also warned about the dangers of taking the drug: "I had visual and auditory hallucinations and the worst paranoia of my life." McAfee claimed the best way to take MDPV is by rectal insertion. He wrote: "Measure your dose, apply a small amount of saliva to just the tip of your middle finger, press it against the dose, insert. Doesn't really hurt as much as it sounds. We're in an arena (drugs/libido) that I navigate as well as anyone on the planet here. If you take my advice about this (may sound gross to some of you perhaps), you will be well rewarded."

Internet rumor is that he was captured but it's unconfirmed as far as I know.

The post promised "more information as it is received," but that was as of early last evening and there have been no additional details. Meanwhile, authorities in Belize are insisting that McAfee's whereabouts remain unknown to them. Peter Delevett of the San Jose Mercury News

After listening to the interviews I don't know whether he's a nut job or telling the truth but that's heck of a conspiracy theory!

From what I understand he is irrelevant to the internet security world, to the the software thats named after him. The only thing relevant in this story about him is that his neighbor has been murdered and he is now on the run. Im gonna have to go with choice B. And go with nut case at this time.

If someone was after you why would they kill your neighbor? To frame him? Why would they do this now, why not when he was relevant back in the 90s?

According to him they wanted a $2 million donation and he refused to give it to them. To me the question is why not go back to the US and hire a lawyer instead of hiding out in the woods somewhere?

I know John McAfee and I will tell you I don't believe for a second he killed anyone.
Yeah, he's a little nuts and he may have been experimenting with herbal compounds in
his lab, but no way is he strung out on anything. He's been down that road and I just can't
see him going down that path again. He knows what he has to lose and it's more than just
money. He may be a little crazy but he's not stupid. Matter of fact, he's pretty damned clever.
Don't believe everything the media tells you. They sensationalize everything. On the other
hand...so does John McAfee, lol.

To me he sounded fine in the interviews, I just don't understand the way he chose to deal with the problem. I mean a man with his resources can arrange some kind of communication with the Belize government from safe location somewhere.
Going into the woods and waiting for the tourism decline to get authorities to back off is kinda stupid in my opinion.

To be honest I try to hold judgement and admit the media has my opinion biased but you know the guy, I don't know that what you've said was true but ill trust your word over the media's for now.

He's a weirdo. He took all the money he had left (which he didn't lose in the stock market) and went down to Belize trying to act cool among people he really doesn't fit in with.

They all looked at him as a payday, and he was taken for a ride by most. Then in his fantasy opinion of himself (of being a badass) he may have killed someone. This isn't so much a conspiracy as it is sad look at people who aren't happy with themselves.

I see it similar to women trying to become models at any cost, ending up as prostitutes, or the wannabe actress who has no acting ability and ends up in porn.

If what he's saying is true then it is a conspiracy. And according to him he was very much happy with himself before this started. Many people especially with so much money retire on some island not because they are unhappy but because they don't need to work anymore and the love the beach and fishing. He also likes young girls.

Now think about it for a second...

69 year old man with enough money to last a lifetime chilling on a tropical beach with 20 year old girlfriend. Most single man would be pretty happy themselves.

But then if you add drugs into this picture and somebody killed his dogs the neighbor who complains about his dogs barking all the time would be the prime suspect in McAfee's' mind, and that makes him the prime suspect in this murder case.
If he really did refuse to pay $2 million to the government then it could be a conspiracy to teach him a lesson.


Of course his reaction to the problem makes it look like he's stupid or guilty.

No, he seems to be relatively innocent in the affair. (Although I don't have all the facts.)

The two of them went down there to throw their money around. Faull is seen parading around with young girls, and Macafee has hoards of prostitutes on an endless revolving door being sent to his house.

In the case of Macafee though, he tried befriending criminals trying to represent himself (as something he's not). In my opinion he was living out a fantasy of "what if's" he probably came up with during his old lifestyle. The thing about developing countries and the third world, is that if you are not cut from their cloth, you have no business trying to fit in with the underworld figures.

I mean, if you can't hack it in Harlem or Compton, you have no business trying to go to another country and running in those circles. The point being that they will look at you as a meal ticket, whether it be securing services and charging you, or looking up elaborate ways to extort you.

If you have that much money, you're best off taking the security of whatever lopsided government is in place, and sticking to their power structure. Because the line between underworld and government is very thin in these places, the ones who don't have an official status, are usually just the ones who didn't get into power.

Chilling with crazy looking people with shotguns on an island is definitely not a good idea. It's hard to say whether he did it or not but he certainly had a motive and he's making himself look guilty by hiding.

If he is telling the truth then I understand why the US government has made no comment and why the mainstream media is quiet on this. In fact, the total silence says a lot in light of what he has to say.
