My wife and I have a 2 month old that went in for his checkup. We got the Hep B vaccine at birth and 1 month. We had a long discussion last night
about what we wanted to do about vaccines going forward. I heavily lean towards no vaccines going forward except for finishing the Hep B doses (only
1 left). My wife is pro-vaccine. We compromised on doing a modified schedule to pace out the injections so it wasn't so many chemicals all at
once.
Well, she discussed this with the doctor today and she told the doc to only administer DTaP and Rotavirus. He received 2 shots and an oral liquid.
She gets home and gets a call from the doctor saying they messed up and they gave him all five that were scheduled (RV, DTaP, Hib, PCV, and IPV) and
we don't need to bring him in till the 4 month checkup.
I'm in shock and upset. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have any recourse? Would it be a waste of energy since he already has received them?
Now that he's received Dose 1 of a bunch of these, do I need to stick to the schedule? I'm furious but trying not to take it out on my wife as
she's not at fault for the mess up, but it would've been avoided had we decided to not vaccinate. I'm also blaming myself for not pushing the "no
vaccine" stance that I admittedly have recently taken up (so much fear mongering on both sides of the argument). I certainly could've presented my
case better.
Help and advice is greatly appreciated!
