Naughty cops Taser innocent Florida man for trying to put out a fire

Daniel Jensen of Pinellas Park, Florida, was simply trying to protect his house from burning down when he instinctively grabbed the garden hose and began dousing the corner of his roof and backyard fence with water to prevent nearby flames from catching hold. But this was apparently unacceptable behavior in the eyes of the local police department, whose corrupt officers decided it was somehow appropriate to aggressively taser Jensen in the back for trying to protect his family and property from the approaching flames.

Once the cops showed up ..

Pinellas Park Police Department sergeant who was on the scene began shouting at another officer to “hit him” and “take him down” with a taser, statements which Jensen says he had no idea at that time were in reference to himself.

After he was shocked he told a news source:

“It was horrible. I was laying in a puddle of water being electrocuted here by the people that are supposed to protect us,”

Do you think this is a mistake by the cops who misunderstood him? or do you think the cop that ordered the hit by following his cold harden heart?.

Yep, I smell a law suit a brewing.

I can understand the cops worrying about the man's safety yet at the same time, I don't think it called for such excessive extreme measure as tasing.

He was protecting his home the best way he could from the fire.
And the cops were trying to protect the man from the fire.

It sounds like a no-win situation unfortunately.

There are 2 sides to every story so I guess we'll have to wait and see what the cops version of the story is.....

What was he charged with?

Even the snippet they show states something like the taser will only be used as a control device when there ia a chance that there will be a confrontation that will result in injury to either the officer or the person 'being taken into custody'.

He wasn't being taken into custody.

He didn't follow orders and he got tased.

He should have shouted "NO" to the order and turned the hose on the officer
to keep him out of taser range to make his point.

There was no need to taser this guy "for his own safety." i Believe he was tasered
as punishment and retribution for not blindy following police orders.

The taser has become a wearon of punishment moreso than a safe means to subdue violence.
Cops use it to show who is boss......mostly. (I have to give a little benefit of doubt my father
was a career policeman)

Even if they do claim it was for his "safety," how is that any safer? Now he's still near the fire but he's also face down in a puddle of water with however many volts of electricity pumping through him. Yep, that's safer all right.

I am a retired/disabled police officer and if I am trying to protect my home or my family they had better bring more than just a taser with them.

I feel that the tasering was uncalled for simply because the man disobeyed orders to abandon his own property?
I have been present at and was first responder to many home and business fires and many home fires the property owner is there with the garden hose trying their best to put out the blaze even though it is a losing battle. I have never had to drag one of these property owners away from trying to protect their property.

In most cases the home is a complete loss but the property owner feels a little better about themselves because they did everything they possibly could to protect their home.

Only on a couple of occasions have I had to actually bring someone out of a burning home. LEO are usually always the first responder to any emergency and we have to be ready for anything but I think one of the most important things missing in todays LEO's is compassion/empathy.
