ZikhaN, I love your Hunters Village theme. It's so soothing.
This is a great thread.

Somewhat old school Genesis-esqe-- and surprisingly good for apparently 8 bit,
if not the top of my list it's close: "The Rogues' Campfire" kicking off Diablo II.
It felt like the roadies broke into Tony and Mike's gear, got inspired to add something
instru to "Trespass" -- and almost OUTDID them. Liked it so much, converted to a
24 bit/192K loop. Swordfighters this eloquent must be SAVED, to bastardize the General.
Compressed Rick 12. pedals, tron.. doesn't take much to make the old fart cry LOL.

Glad you like it. This game was way before WoW btw, incase anyone thinks anything's been copied :p

Since you liked it, check these songs out too. I think you'd like most songs from L2.

the first Fable also had some pretty amazing music

And Oblivion

Michiel van den Bos composed the music for Age of Wonders, an old 4X that was my game "addiction" for a very long time. I think the epic music had something to do with it, and I still listen to it frequently while I'm writing or painting.

I don't know if you could call it beautiful, but Borderlands 1&2 definitely have the best music I've ever heard in a game.

Lots of good replies but seriously, you cannot beat the Halo 3 orchestra soundtrack.

When combined with the engaging atmosphere present within the game, the music encountered when playing Shemu 2 is great!

Cool thread
You just took me down a long path of game music memories

Not sure I can provide anything beautiful, but the first time I remember thinking about in game music was with "Outrun" that I had on an Atari ST. The music was actually came on an extra cassette tape that you where supposed to play as you played the game

Another bit of in game music that sticks out in my mind is Xenon 2, also on the Atari as it was one of the first games that ever had a soundtrack that sounded anything like "real" music, well the loading screen music at least

I remember that game! Was a good one indeed. I couldn't finish it fully because the disc got scratched enough that it would keep freezing at one part and I couldn't continue further. But was still a good game from what I remember.

As for the most beautiful game music I've ever heard, this is a difficult one to answer. So many games, so much great music. But I gotta say I loved the Okami music:

Also, gotta love the epicness that is Baldur's Gate 2's Firkraag dragon fight:

Once that music started playing, you knew you were screwed.
