Who said that our Sun is going back to sleep. According to NASA, a solar prominence, occurred at 0600 GMT with another giant sun eruption four hours later.

The arch of plasma from Hydrogen and Helium forms a contorted structure of different magnetic fields generated by our Sun's internal dynamo.

Wondering if this WAS earth bound, what kind of damage could we expect ?
That is AMAZING btw!

That is beautiful, I must say.

I have debated on this site about the solar maximum of '12-'13, and I'm still of the opinion (and gut feeling) that it will be huge. I believe it will be the initial domino in the succession. It really won't take her much to knock us all way out of line.

we keep hearing by nasa,no danger on the horizon, yet things like this gives a diferent vew.no way they can tell when that fire ball could let a wip of that stuff on us.and they can speculate of the damages on electronics and so on,but,we all know what fire does and extreem heat.its a no brainer.so,nasa is just guessing on the outcomes and giving the best senario.down play ,not looking into the real bad senario.or at least not publicly.

It's amazing, how infinitely powerless we are in opposition to universe events! Virtual flag to OP, don't have enought post to really flag

I'm not sure, but it may have engulfed our planet.

That's a good question I would like answer of. Even though I am into Astronomy, I don't follow the Sun events. Would it be enough to damage satellites and cause electricity outage?

That is answered in detail in video. It's not going to hit us.

It's possible it can happen, but it's extremely rare. If one were to end up in a direct hit it's estimated it would cause two Trillion Dollars in damage.

You should view the video if you can.

When we think that IF this had hit the Earth, I don't believe we would be having this conversation. Indeed, it is scary to think, that there would be nothing we could do.

As we revolve around our Sun, there are reportedly, more CME's, "M" class, that are erupting.

There's been no M class flares, only C class...
