Talon is small town located in Pecos County, Texas. When town officials realized that drinking-water consumption by residents was well below the national average, they decided take action and three months ago began adding sugar to their water supply to make drinking it more desirable. According to Hester Griggs, the Commissioner of Utilities for Talon, they are adding roughly "4 tablespoons of sugar for every 8 oz. cup of water." Earlier today, Pat Kelly spoke with Mr. Griggs to find out how residents are responding to this initiative.

All I have to say is haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha. Wow

I would have hoped to see a story like this on april fools day, and, why is it so important that the residents drink more of the water?, makes you wonder what else they put in it.

No Joke; it really is legit. I cannot imagine the damaging effects that sugar will have on the water delivery infrastructure, not to mention how many goddamn bugs will be attracted to it and every household there.
I can sort of picture how this conversation took place;

"Sir, people are drinking more pop than water.....What should we do?"
"Well, water is a precious resource; there's not much of it out there, and we can't have people consuming LESS of it now, can we? Not to mention that this is health issue! People NEED to drink water!"
"I guess so sir. What should we do?"
"Well, I suppose the most logical thing to do is add sugar to the water. Yeah, that's it. We'll put aside some funds so we can continually spend money on sugar, so that we can add it to the water. We'll put 4 tbl spoons for 8 Oz of water, that way people will drink it. It's a health issue, you know..... if you have diabetes..... well then, sorry. Once it rots our infrastructure and creates a huge insect infestation, we'll have to hire some people to fix'er up! We'll be creating JOBS!! Yaaa!! Jobss!! Rabble rabble rabble....soda pop....rabble rabble"

What the hell are these fools thinking?!?! Have they ever heard the term Diabetic?? Even if the residents are all aware of the sugar content....assuming this is all as reported... Woe be the poor bastard from out of town who orders a glass of water with lunch at the local cafe and fails to mention a serious diabetic condition. This is totally outrageous and insane. Adding anything to the water is criminal, in my opinion. The only treatment of the water should be what is required to make it safe and consistent to drink. Nothing more. Ever.

What total insanity!

TextHi Shelley – We commend you for actively engaging with media and your suspicions because the story about a Texas town putting sugar in the water supply is satire. This Is That is a satirical current affairs radio show from Canada, similar to your Onion newspaper. Our apologies for the confusion. Hopefully this clears things up and maybe you could pass on the word to the folks in Pecos County for us too! Thanks for getting in touch, – Chris Kelly – THIS AND THAT Producer. CBC.

I found this when I googled it.
I knew it couldn't be true, that's about 25% sugar.
