Well that darn election has come and gone. Feels like the story is over. It feels like we had our chance and failed and now all bets are off .
The one party is so immoral and corrupt they could not even field a viable candidate. So blinded by their greed, so intent they are on looting the
ship before it goes down for good that all they could do was front a couple of capable young rich-boy pirates, and they failed miserable. They fell on
their pasty faces.
Now we are ruled by a bunch of well meaning but morally inept fools (may the Lord protect us from the kind of tyrants who tend to sweep in and take
over in these kinds of situation). We will bump along in grey flat banality for the next fifty to seventy years until something truly awful catches us
sleeping and finally brings it all crashing down.
The US had a stellar rise over the fifty years after WWII. We have shown all humanity for all time what a society that is guided by reason, common
sense and faith is truly capable of accomplishing (we sent men to the MOON!), at least until those who inherit that society choose to allow it to
plunge into the mist and mud produced by the delusions of greed, lust, and avarice.
Now what?? What can one or two people who desire to live a noble life do in the face of this overwhelming tidal wave of mediocrity and moral decay?
Do what they have always done, I guess. Stick to the basics. Live with a love of the fundamentals. Leave behind a bedrock of fundamental truths and
strengths, expend what remains of their lived in the (re)creation a tradition of reason, common sense, faith, self reliance, and the will to simply
persevere when nothing else can be accomplished.
What else can be done?
