Did any of the "God haters" bother to read his post?

The verse MUST NOT pertain to ancient Israel, it must pertain to all followers of God to this current day

I am having a tough time deciding which is more foolish, the fact that the first responder immediately uses commands given exclusively to the post exodus Israelites (which is a clear violation of the OPs challenge) OR the fact that more than 1 person actual gave it stars and as far as your're concerned, the OP was proven wrong??

The problem is most of you read bits and pieces of the Bible and have missed fairly significant plot changing events. You wouldn't think of spouting your "knowledge" at a book club meeting if you only read the first page, yet with the Bible, anyone who watched Bruce Allmighty is considered a Bible scholar. For shame

God makes it clear (as well as life making it clear) that we sink or swim in this life. Nothing about this life is easy unless we choose to suffer for what we earn. We can also suffer as a result of not earning. With salvation, it's a gift of God. Salvation does have a requirement of appreciation for what is given, belief and faith in the one giving it and good works as a byproduct of that faith. A person that has faith in God will naturally be changed from the previous nature of being a thief.

We each do two things in this life. We think and move. Other than the Spirit that allows this, the rest is entirely produced by God for us. We don't make our hair grow, the sun shine, the earth turn or any of it. It's all God's work for us. We deserve none of it or we would be the ones boasting.

Ephesians 2

7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

"And ye who commits a crime, shall be put to death, in a electric chair..."

Leveta.....oh wait a minute

This was during our time.....ALL OF YOU FAIL

All these verses peeps are pulling out of scripture, we're the rules/laws of the land. No, different than the electric chair. Most of you forget that and majority of these church "laws" are not followed anymore because it is a different time period. The not so smart people on this website make me laugh.

God isn't evil, HUMANS are. Get that through your thick freakin skulls.

being the first poster who got stars (woo hoo!!) i must take issue with your reply.

it is simple;
either the OP is cherry picking aspects of the bible, or they are a hypocrite. this is the corner they painted themselves into. no one boasted this "renouncing thing" they brought it upon themselves, and there "loophole" is WEAK!

especially when the OP says he/she believes every word of the bible. there are plenty of passages in the bible that support violence. too many.

ask the OP if he/she supports Gay Marriage. if not... why? because it says so in Leviticus? ask the OP is he/she believes that a woman was spawned from a man's rib. ask the OP if he/she believes in the burning bush. in Soddom & Gommora (sp?) all Old Testament stuff.

if so... then why not versus that say it is Ok to keep the virgins, but kill all else?
you either believe it or not.... otherwise you're cherry picking.

you also state the "commands" were given to one specific set of people st one time. what of Jesus? those commands were coined 2000 years ago. surely the times have changed once more.

btw- i've read the bible. from Genesis to Revelations... its part of the reason i'm wiccan now!

to each there own,.

The idea of the thread is obvious. People rush to quote barbaric Bible verses that are commonplace in the OT, and post them to the OP, who smugly states "they don't apply to me", and sees that as a victory.

But the truth of the matter is that who they apply to is irrelevent. That they exist, or ever existed, applying to anyone on Earth, is proof of the evil nature of the Bible God and should be more than enough to push any sane, decent person away from religion.

Bashing babies against rocks? Supporting slavery? Taking ownership of virigns? Stoning rebelious children? Who the hell cares if God is telling you to do this personally or another generation or group of people?

That is absurd thinking, typical of so many Christians - I'm not being told to do this personally, so it's alright.

No, Sir, it isn't.

Shame on you.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

We have no right to judge the Almighty,

Yet you make a thread requesting that people do so!

What does that make you, a bad Christian?

Sometimes the truth does hurt, indeed.

I have ripped up Bibles and mocked Christians for believing in a "God"

Really? Real Atheists don't actually do that sort of thing because they really could not care less. It seems that only American 'atheists' who treat atheism like a religion do this.

Atheism is simply lack of belief in a God, so a "real" atheist is simply one who does not believe in God. The only way you can be a "fake" atheist is if you believe in God but pretend not to, and I doubt that applies here as you seem to think it might.

It seems like you are the one treating atheism like a religion and assuming all atheists should act the same way. We are a diverse bunch, seeing as the only thing that links us is that we do not believe in a deity.

Of course Dawkins is a proper atheist. He doesn't believe in God, does he?

Being anti-religion is not the same thing as hating God. I am certainly anti-religion myself, but also an atheist, that does not make me any less a "proper" one. What nonsense.

There are many things to hate about religion, and Dawkins makes it quite clear what those things are - take religiously fuelled violence, as one example.

Good morning OP. I have a gift for you.

1 Samuel 2:3
3 Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows,
and by him deeds are weighed.

Proverbs 8:13
13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Proverbs 11:2
2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Proverbs 13:10
10 Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Proverbs 16:18
18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 29:23
23 A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.

Ecclesiastes 7:8
8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.

Isaiah 2:11
11 The eyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

2 Corinthians 12:20
20 For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

And my personal favorite.

Obadiah 1:3
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to the ground?'

I agree. I have no problem with the idea of there being some kind of 'intelligence' or 'architect of the universe' out there that doesn't involve any particular religion. But the "god" in any of the Abrahamic bibles acts like a spoiled toddler having a tantrum. If that was the real "god" I'd still rather go to hell than abide by his rules.

That's what I call free will.

"Whoever curses father or mother shall die" (Mark 7:10)

Matthew 15
4 For God said, 'Honor your father and mother and Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.

5 But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,'

6 he is not to 'honor his father with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

7You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

Here, Jesus is clearly ticked that people aren't stoning rebelious kids anymore.

Luke 12:47

47"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows.

It was okay to beat your slave to death, as long as didn't suffer longer that 3 days.

Matthew 10:34
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Swords don't kill people, people kill people!

The wisdom of this world is foolish to God,

The Gospel of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are saved it is the Power of the Almighty,

God bless you,

In Love, Truth and Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ

Amen

I feel your frustration my brother,

It hurts to see the ignorance and the wickedness of man day in and day out,

Imagine how our Maker and Master must feel,

I shudder thinking of the judgements that are coming down the pipeline for humanity.....

And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, 12 so that

‘Seeing they may see and not perceive,
And hearing they may hear and not understand;
Lest they should turn,
And their sins be forgiven them.’”

Hearing you hear not, neither do you understand, windword,

Lest you turn, and your sins be forgiven you.
