Okay, this is getting a bit ridiculous for activity now. It would seem to me, we're getting a bit more than normal?

2012 is sure not slowing down. Hmm...

To add some information for the thread, this is the recent activity as shown at the USGS site. Notice the dates.

I ran that search another way. Here is the USGS display sorted by magnitude for the top and for the last 30 days at 5.5 or higher. These are the top but the counter indicated 43 total meeting that criteria. Hmm...

So both Alaska and Chile have had 6+ in the last 24 hours, both locations that have had 9+ quakes in the past. hmm, I wonder if this is either end showing instability while CSZ keeps getting stress added to it? I know a lot of us in the alternative methods to eq prediction thread have been feeling very uneasy about the PNW of late. I'll be lurking quake watch waiting for the experts to chime in!

Wow, so Chili holds the record for highest magnitude?

I know it's just a matter of time before Los Angeles get's hit hard with an 8 or a 9...

I'm wondering when we're going to get hit. Seems like everywhere north and south of me is getting hammered,
and I'm dancing between the rain drops.

Hopefully I'll be back in Mizzou soon

From Cali to Mizzou??

That does not sound so reassuring, as Mizzou sits pretty close to the NMSZ.......am I incorrect in my assumption?? If not just ignore my Holly Farm self.

Fortunately for Earthquakes, I'm on the far western edge of effect of any kind and probably the Eastern most point for good staging with all services (We're a regional medical hub here too) for relief and recovery. This is a USGS simulation map I saved quite some time back for a 7.7. on the New Madrid. It's interesting how different the ground type makes the area and direction of impact,
