I ran out of characters above, If anyone wants to help others see this solution, please give this its own thread. I haven't made enough posts here to be able to do that myself.

Just a quick note to point out that if you read it and call it news, it derived from a MSM source. If it isn't an MSM source, it is generally either just regurgitated from an MSM source, or is just some blog with someone making unfounded allegations.

They got a lock on our news. Nothing you or I can do about it, short of not buying any more media at all to starve them of their money.

I agree with all of this.

This is frightening to me. My step father is old school.... if they say it on the news, it must be true and don't you ever question it. In fact don't question anything because all it will earn you is a back-hand. But I've never trusted, or really believed anything I see or hear on any news venue. It's a consistent stream of lies and a poor attempt to steer the majority in one direction or another.

I am digusted at how often these news sources skim right by important issues and happenings out there to report a bunch of crap that no one needs to know about, and while people are buying into the BS these news sources are feeding them on the right, they are not paying attention to what's happening on the left.

I am even more disgusted at how many individuals out there just take what they see and hear as fact.

I love it when these mistakes are acknowledged. Thank you.

To claim that the mistrust of MSM is based on fear and paranoia is ignorant in my opinion. Personally, I am not the paranoid type nor am I in fear. I really never even paid much attention to MSM until the James Holmes case, and that's when my eyes were really opened to their "ways." With the internet, we've been able to do a lot of digging for ourselves, and it's become blatantly obvious that MSM only puts out there what they want to put out there (or are told to put out there). People used to be reliant on only whatever was put on the nightly news by a handful of news organizations. People didn't have the option to dig around for themselves and question things/find answers for themselves. Now they can, and that is what makes CNN fearful and paranoid - hence the article. I find it pathetic when anyone has to resort to labeling a person a "conspiracy theorist" simply because they ask questions and don't immediately believe everything that is thrown at them. It's called wanting to be informed, and not trusting proven liars.

With Twitter/Facebook, people can get the "news" from people who actually experienced it/are experiencing it.

Ill tell you what i learned about Twitter during the Arab Spring: there is as much if not more disinfo spread via twitter. Even worse, any valuable information can easily be drowned out in the field if chatter.

I can't do Twitter. it is too much information, too much noise, too much reposting of links. There are definitely a few gems here and there....but it is not much more valuable than what is on CNN.

Agreed. I don't do it either, or Facebook. I'm just saying outlets like that and Youtube, can (maybe rarely though) offer more of a bird's unbiased eyeview than the likes of MSM. Even though I guess, technically, they're also becoming MSM themselves.

Mainstream news is little more that Corporate advertising, be it for their wars, where they make a fortune, or Big Pharma, where they make a fortune, or the world of Corporate finance, where they make fortunes.

I realised I had to stop watching it for the sake of my sanity, when it got the stage where every single day when "the news" came on, Id find myself uncontrollably screaming "liar" repeatedly through the course of what might only be a 10 minute broadcast.

It would appear however, that increasing numbers of people have seen through the BS.

Not before time, really.

I was unable to get a PBS signal until today. I was shown the PBS Android app. I just watched the "Park Avenue" episode of "Why Poverty?". I have found a real news source. I understand why Mittens wants to ax Big Bird.

Know the feeling and its worse when you are watching it with people who take every piece of information from the msm as absolute truth

But in saying that, most of those people could find a fact evenif it was sitting right before their eyes.
