Well, it's been a long road for some of the people in New York City. For some, that road is still not over and electricity we all take for granted is still not restored. In fairness to all crews working night and day, the job has been almost unprecedented for scope, scale and sheer enormity of the challenge presented. It seems the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned on, despite recent rumors to the contrary! It's not even an oncoming train for once!

It would seem, Long Islanders have one more day to hang in there. Way to go on restoring power! Really...this HAS been a nightmare of a job by all reports and I take that from what I saw with our Ice Storm and lines down by the thousands. That was small compared to this and I sat almost 2 full weeks inside a city without power then.

LIPA to restore last Long Island, New York power outages from Sandy on Tuesday

(Reuters) - The New York State-owned Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) expects to restore power by the end of Tuesday to most of the remaining 75,000 homes and businesses still without service two weeks after Hurricane Sandy battered the region.

Sandy hit LIPA harder than any other power company, knocking out more than 1 million of its 1.1 million customers, while a nor'easter last week knocked out 123,000 more customers - thousands of whom had had their power restored after Sandy.

Unfortunately, it doesn't mean EVERYONE will be restored.

LIPA, meanwhile, said it could not restore power to about 17,500 homes and businesses in Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island and 37,500 in the Rockaways in New York City because severe flooding from Sandy damaged electrical panels, wires, outlets and appliances, making it unsafe to restore service.

The utility said these property owners must hire a licensed electrician to repair the water damage and produce an electrical inspection certificate before it can restore power.

Here is hoping some normalcy can return to the lives of the people up there now that power is being turned on to the remaining locations which can safely have it done!

Thats great news and all, but did you happen to catch wind of this?

victorygirlsblog.com...

Bloomberg is refusing food to thousands of starving people because HE CANT ASSESS THE FAT AND SALT CONTENT!

This may be the worst thing I have ever heard in my life.
This is a crime against humanity!

Indeed.... My friend up there has had many stories to tell that MSM haven't picked up on. I think that when people have power and heat restored and making it from one day to the next isn't their entire focus, we'll be hearing all kinds of stories out of New York City and very few are likely to make Bloomers look good at all. The man is a pig and a 1%'er to an extreme. 25 Billion in personal wealth....he could have writtten a damned personal check and fed the city for a few days. Literally. Yet, as you said, salt content being checked out is more important than food destined for the dumpster being given to those who would gratefully have it.

Sometimes there is as much bad news as good news to something. I'm happy to hear about power though. Getting lights on and heat running is the most important thing now, eh?
