Greece doesn't have Google maps street-view, it is basically surrounded by hostile/unfriendly countries, and is undergoing financial crisis with social unrest.

Who thinks their government took steps to inhibit mapping in order to remove a vital tool from protesters? (high detail ground-intelligence,)

Obviously, protesters aren't the only threat in this regard...

My opinion is that protests/riots are so spontaneous and unpredictable that Street View would not play a big role.

To take advantage of that resource and for the government to deem it a threat, there would have to be a well-orchestrated protest in which all the people knew 100% what the game plan was. And if that's the case....I doubt they need Google to pull it off.

This does raise a good point. Could Google choose which time to record street view? And could Google choose when not to?

It would seem that when they are planning street views, it would seem they would have a choice when and where to do an actual street view recording for self beneficial purposes.
