Susan Rice Is Top Candidate to Succeed Clinton

Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is emerging as the favored candidate to succeed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, even with the political controversy over her remarks about the fatal Sept. 11 attack on the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.


.....Rice remains close to President Barack Obama and shares many of his views on foreign policy. They emphasized that the president hasn’t made a final decision, and Clinton may remain in her post for some months into Obama’s second term..

Rice is thought to be the president’s preferred choice over two other strong candidates, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry of Massachusetts and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, according to the current and former administration officials......

Apparently, She has clashed with Vitaly Churkin, her Russia counterpart, over Syria. The exchanges got personal, and he publicly chided her for an unusual outburst and said Syria wasn’t an issue that could be drowned by expletives.

I honestly don't think that we'll see a female Secretary of State. Early in the Obama administration, despite Clinton's, formidable personality, lifetime of contacts and being wife of a former President there were certain "close allies" that whenever real business needed to be done either Panetta or Gates were sent to do what a Secretary of State should be doing due to the prejudices of the nations they were dealing with (yes I'm talking about Saudi Arabia and other Arab muslim nations).

Kerry is a name I've heard more than once so far. The UN ambassador I find is a long shot as well because she is at least ankle deep in Benghazi if nothing but the false story that went out first. I can't really think of any other prominent Democrats that might have both the desire and capability to handle the position.

Political madness indeed! I kept wondering why the GOP took up John McCain's campaign against Ms. Rice. I kept wondering why... until yesterday. I was watching a news show, and a Republican congressman happily said that Republicans would have no trouble confirming John Kerry.

Aha! There is a fake campaign about Ms. Rice, to attempt to get her out of the way, because if Kerry gets confirmed, the GOP has another crack at a Senate seat... the one vacated by Kerry! God, what political slimeballs! Smear tactics!
