Pilot Mountain in NC on fire

While it's not a major fire it is causing some problems and a lot of smoke around the area. People always believe that Pilot Mountain is a volcano (it's not) but some of the images from it really makes it look like one. Fire fighters say that while it's not contained it's not out of control either and they expect to have it back under control in the next day or two.

That's sad to see, And for all the wild animals. ...maybe it was a controlled fire they got out of control. Or campers...unless of anyone saw something crash?

It was a controlled fire that got out of hand, then last night they said it was under control, they changed it again to being out of control this morning. They're about finished fighting it for tonight, they're going to go home & try again in the morning. Now that it's night it looks really creepy but pretty.

Spookey night photos..looks like lava ! Still very sad for all the wildlife.....I wonder if the firefighter felt today's earthquake?

I've not heard anyone up that way mention feeling anything so I'm guessing not. Friday night it jumped the fire lines again after the firefighters left for the night. They're saying now it's 70% contained but over a thousand acres could end up being burned because of it.
