Football Team Stops Bullying

I thought it would be nice to see something on the front page that is not related to politics. This article describes how a football team took a special needs girl 'under their wing' to protect her from bullies. It's really very moving, and I thought it was worth sharing. The world needs more people like these.

Her mom says she tried to talk to teachers and administrators and got nowhere. So she tried a whole new path -- the starting quarterback of the undefeated football team. After all, senior Carson Jones had once escorted Chy to the Special Olympics.

"Just keep your ear to the ground," Liz wrote to Carson on his Facebook page. "Maybe get me some names?"

But Carson Jones did something better than that. Instead of ratting other kids out, he decided to take one in -- Chy.

He started asking her to eat at the cool kids' lunch table with him and his teammates. "I just thought that if they saw her with us every day, maybe they'd start treating her better," Carson says. "Telling on kids would've just caused more problems."

All of a sudden, Chy started coming home as her bubbly self again. When her mom asked why she was so happy, she said, "I'm eating lunch with my boys!"

People are waking up and the white hats are increasing in number.
Being abusive isn't cool. Humiliating people for a few laughs is evil and demented.
Those who allow themselves to be humiliated to be part of a group of psychotic bullies are confused and need to seek answers as to why they want abusive people in their lives.

Good for this quarterback and his team! They are successfully severing the destructive, abusive roots that rugby players have kept alive for decades. Hopefully, more people will see this young man's golden choice and follow suit.

Oh man this kid must've made his mom cry.

He just about made me, and I didn't have a thing to do with how he turned out.
