Strange Sounds In The Sky

I am here in Anahuac, Texas visiting my parents during my vacation. The town is rather small and very quiet and its very dark when its night.

About ten minutes ago I went outside to have a cigarette when my Mother asked me if it was raining. I told her noth that I was aware of. There was supposed to be rain today and we saw some dark clouds but nothing happened. As I reached outside I lit my cigarette and suddenly began to hear what I thought was thunder, a low rumbling. After a moment or two I realized that this was not normal thunder. It was very rhythmic and in a short amount of time I could figure out the pattern, almost like drum beats but loud enough that it sounded like thunder. It was obviously coming from the sky, not the ground.

I ran back inside and told my Mother to come out and hear it. She then told me this is why she thought it was raining. We went outside and we heard it for maybe 30 seconds or so until it completely stopped. We both looked at each other wondering what the hell we just heard. There was no lightning at all, in fact the sky is pretty much clear except for a few patches of clouds here and there.

I am prepared in case I hear it again and will see if I can record it. I know with all the "earth moans" or whatever they are going around the world I am concerned about what we just heard. I asked my Dad who is in the back room if he had heard anything but he didn't.

Has anyone else heard something like this?

Thank you for a first hand report on more unusual sky sounds. I'm glad you are prepared to record the sound if it happens again. This is what I love about ATS, the members bringing their first hand reports....

Interesting, I occasionally hear a similar sound here in Portland Oregon. When I hear it I always initially think it is a jet aircraft, but then I will notice the rhythmic pattern. Is it possible for jet aircraft to produce I kind of wavering sound? The pattern is usually stable and fades in and out.

Anyways, thanks for bringing this to our attention OP. Seems like I hear something about these sounds every once in a while then people quickly forget. I reckon it is due to all the hoaxed videos on Youtube. No to say all of them are hoaxed since they occasionally appear on the news, but a good majority are. Really sucks too because all the hoaxes seem to discredit the authentic ones. Hmmmmm...... Disinformation perhaps?

If you search the forums, you'll find a large number of threads dealing with this. I don't mean to say "someone already posted this" because this had died down for awhile and this makes a new report for quite some time as I know it. You perked my ears.... I mention searching because yes, MANY others have heard things and many are posted across past threads in Youtube and audio recording. One thread I was on last winter even had someone who works with Audio take a crack with analysis of one..Thats back there too.

If you hear it again and have a camera...and don't have a better idea for what to shoot, of course, please try this. Try and determine what direction, best you can, this is coming from and then focus as still and closely as possible on that region of the sky for as long as possible. It's a hunch....but I've yet to get my paws on video that's clean, shot in that way to check. It might well show something if the noise you're hearing is like that in past threads.

I haven't heard anything since then, but I am keeping an ear out for anything.

I am reading up on other events to see if anything is similar to what I have heard.

Thanks for sharing. People have been hearing weird sounds coming from the skies recently, around the world. Often it is described as a horn sound.

I think there is much to be learned from this.

all of these sounds from the sky really need to finally lead up to somthing...ive been anticipating the chance to hear something like this, and since i live in north texas maybe itll get closer to me so i can witness this for myself and stop having doubts about it

I didn't see anything about these strange noises here on ATS search; but the search doesn't tell me how old a post is unless it's just a few days... (unless I'm not looking in the right place)....

Anyway, this site is all about the strange noises... and yes, it has died down for a while, and I hadn't forgotten. I look for threads on it here and there quite often. This is new to me. If it is somewhere else, my apologies!
