The boy looks around, he sees this girl.
The girl looks around and only sees birds.

The boy has tried overcoming his fears.
The girl has never known, the love he holds dear.

The boy writes a poem, thinking it's best.
He drops it in a puddle, oh how life is a mess.

He bends down to grab it, shocked and dismayed.
At the sight of the girl, giggling his way.

He hesitates a moment as she comes within inches.
She calmy reaches down and reads his loving poem.

As she finishes the last line, reading aloud.
She says to him softly ' she must be very proud '

As she walks away slowly, leaving the note in his hand.
All he can whisper is 'I hope you'll one day understand.'

Tenth, who knew you had poet in you? This story is straightforward, yet elegant. I enjoyed reading it. You should write more poetry and short stories. You have a knack for it. S+F.

I love it.
I felt his despair when it fell and sweaty palms from nervousness when she came near.

This poem touched a tender, vulnerable piece in me that I really didn't want to feel! But as I read through the whole piece, i found I couldn't help but be moved by the boy's story. Thanks for grabbing the emotional side of this Otter and shaking her awake.

Here.....let me finish that for you......

And then one day he realized
that the truth was in her her eyes

They showed the boy that she wanted love
her current way of of life wasn't giving her much

He made move after move, in the things that he would say
but she always had an excuse, she always backed away

All it was, was nerves and fear
she didn't have to say it, that boy could hear

He'd been there before, he understood
that living that way, just isn't good

He loved her so much and would give her the world
but she had to understand, even though she's a girl,

she had to step out of her shell just once
and go that boy who had given her so much

she had to understand that the give and take
it what makes love strong.........real, not fake

The boys name?

Amazing the feelings pouring out in this contest. Obviously you've unleashed a poem about a girl you had a severe crush on sometime in your youth. Well done!

Flagged.

Very lovely poem Tenth! I am wondering? Does she understand now? Or has not enough time passed?
Thanks for sharing this with us here!
