Hypocrisy: Democrat Senator Flies Plane To Dominican Republic To Have Sex With 2 Prostitutes

Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year.

In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.

“He called him[self] ‘Bob,’” said one.

One woman said Menendez wooed her with compliments like “beautiful” before they slept together. The other woman recounted, with apparent bitterness, receiving from an intermediary only $100 of the $500 she had been promised.

“He lies,” she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.”

According to the translator’s summary, Menendez “was nice at first, but then later he did not seem to care about her.”

Menendez, who is 58 and divorced, has represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat since being appointed to fill a vacancy in 2005. He is up for re-election on Nov. 6.

Asked about the allegations, Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright refused to answer any questions on the subject. “We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation,” she wrote by email.

It is known that Sen. Menendez has been a regular visitor to the Dominican Republic. On at least one occasion, according to a news account, Menendez has been a guest at the Casa de Campo home of a friend and campaign donor named Salomon Melgen, an ophthalmologist and owner of an eye clinic in Florida.

Melgen has donated $14,700 to Menendez’s campaigns since 1993, with the bulk of it coming since he became a U.S. Senator, according to Federal Election Commission data collected by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Melgen also appears to have lent Menendez the use of his plane on several occasions.

Menendez’s 2012 public schedule shows no events listed for Easter or the following three days. On Easter Sunday this year, aircraft records obtained by TheDC show that Melgen’s plane left Florida the morning of Easter Sunday, stopped at the Teterboro private airport near Menendez’s home in New Jersey, and flew on to the Dominican Republic.

Two days later it returned to the United States, from a private airport near Casa de Campo.

Interestingly, on April 17, Sen. Menendez was interviewed by NJ Today Online and was asked about what the consequences should be for the secret service agents who were involved in the sex scandal in Cartegena, Colombia.

He answered, "If the facts are true, they should all be fired.

Several days after this interview six secret service agents were fired over the scandal.

The hypocrisy is outrageous. We have 2 other GOP Senate nominees that were asked to step down because of rape comments. And here we have someone flying to the Dominican Republic to have sex with 2 prostitutes and quite possibly on the taxpayer dime. Menendez should step down

Under New Jersey law, Governor Christie can appoint a replacement for Menendez. As Menendez was appointed by another corrupted official, Corzine.

What is it with politicians in DC and being addicted to sex?? Seriously .. is it the power or the prestige or what? Republican or Democrat. Doesnt' matter. There just seems to be an over abundance of sex addicts in the halls of DC. Or perhaps they just reflect the true number around the world and we just get to find out about them because they are so 'in the public' or something.

Politicians must get tired of screwing the taxpayers all the time . . . just looking to spice things up, I guess.

It's the personality type that's attracted to power. Dominant and forceful. I'm not going to label sociopaths etc but the 'alpha male' types gravitate to positions like that and then it's easy to abuse the role.

It's the people that actively aggressively seek power that should be banned from having it.

Couldn't agree more.
These kinds of people think they should have whatever they want, whenever they want it.
Some call it a sense of entitlement.

Sexual desire and the thrill of adventure , it is the essence of being human I really can't fault him for that, bottom line, some can resist some have no restraint of those desires, history tells us that, should anyone be surprised that sex scandal is one of the number one achilles heel of politicians , besides embezzling and other corruption scandals.

I do believe that if he did what is being revealed though, then also made hypocritical statements, used any government/taxpayer monies he should be subject to the same punishments he called for in the secret service agent fiasco and also be forced to pay back any money used for his trips that were not his own.

This is totally not surprising. If one of them is doing this then there's probably more doing so as well.
Costa Rica and Colombia as well are places where men can find willing women.

As pointed out in the earlier thread that has since been shut down for some unknown reason,

-Menendez has done nothing illegal,
-He isnt even married, so its not like he's cheating on his wife
-Hasnt been shown (despite allegations) that he even cost the taxpayer any money

It really is just a bit of his own personal life that is of no importance to anyone else, expect muckrakers.

Nah i don't think they are addicted to sex. They just can't get any so have to pay prostitutes. Can't use american because they might expose them, so use foreign countries.

Yes, prostitution is legal in the Dominican Republic.

Prostitution in the Dominican Republic is legal, but a third party may not derive financial gain from prostitution (brothels or similar establishments are illegal)

Why not go to Vegas? Because prostitution is illegal in Vegas. It is only legal in one county in Nevada and that county is several hours drive from Vegas.

Nonetheless, perhaps he was in the Dominican Republic on business and decided to wind down his evening, on his own time, with the company of a couple of prostitutes. Perhaps he was there on vacation.

In response to the OP; I'm not sure I even believe this story but, if it's true, then he did nothing illegal or wrong. And no, he's not a hypocrite. When he chastised the Secret Service, he did so because they were there to protect the POTUS and left sensitive information laying around while those prostitutes were in the room. Those agents could have jeopardized the safety of the POTUS.

Now that you mention it ... that's a pretty good point. If he isn't married (if he was it would make him blackmailable) and isn't charging the US tax payer .. and prostitution is legal .. then I guess he can vacation where ever he wants and to whatever he wants.

Ahh, but Sen. Menendez never blasted the Secret Service over their morals. Here is what Menendez said on the matter:

"If the facts are true, they should all be fired. The reality is is that the secret service not only protects the president of the United States, they represent the United States of America. They were on duty. If the facts are true as we are reading in the press, they shouldn't have a job."

When asked about the agents who said they have not been adequately funded, Menendez doubled down on his response saying, "I don't think that's an excuse. You know what your duty and obligation is. You know you're there to protect the president. You know you're there representing the United States of America. You don't go and solicit prostitutes."

Thank you for the clarification.
I tend to think that anyone and everyone in Congress is either a crook or a hypocrite.

But you're right, if he broke no laws and wasn't spending taxpayer money it's really none of my damn business!
(though he is a cheapskate....$100 (can't a woman make a living anymore?) )
