Yea sorry i tried to hitvthe friend button but it wont let and makes me hit rival

You can remove someone from your "Rivals list" by clicking tools in the top menu and then profile. You will see a list of your friends and rivals in the bottom left hand corner.
Click on the red (-) button next to the name to remove someone from either list
