Eight years ago today the U.S lost it's first Marine in the War on Terrorism. Cpl Ron Payne was a hell of a Marine who will never be forgoten by those he served with. I did not know him personally as I was in a different company but a good friend of mine from SOI was on the patrol that night when it happened. I also know SSGT Thompson and worked with him alot towards the end of my service. SSGT Thompson was wounded badly and has had to suffer from the aftermath and will continue to do so for the rest of his life. With these wars winding down we must not forget the sacrifices made by those who never returned home.

To CPL Payne and all of the others who have made the ultimate sacrifice,

Semper Fi, and may you never be forgotten.

Semper Fi, devil dog, from a former O311.

My last stint in Ramadi was a bit of a bear. Thanks for your service.

Damn I feel bad for hijacking you're thread, my respect and heart goes out to CPL Payne, and you for bring him to my attention. But I have to say that, in my eyes and many others - Giving you're life for corporate capatalistic greed is not the ultimate sacrifice. If anything, then the sacrifice of ones life by turning their weapons on the few men who are supposed to be represting over 350 million Americans - spending their Tax's on unneeded wars and not representing their people, would be the ultimate sacrifice.

I'm not attacking Paynes beliefes or the thread in general, I just wanted to add something to what you finished on. I hope you don't see it as derailing or anything

Peace & Thanks for sharing

Not at all. I pretty much agree with you. Although I believe he gave his life for his fellow Marines that night. At least according to what I have been told. It is a shame that so many have been lost in the madness that the U.S Government created.

The OP does not seem to mind, so I won't get into it with you.
