Is it Possible to send an Object into Outta Space Using Non-Expensive Equipment?

I've been looking into wither anyone has ever sent a Recording Device or Camera / Video Device into Outta space using Non-Expensive Equipment, Would it be possible to send it right Out of space not the edge of space? If so please explain, I myself & i am sure loads of ATS members would be curious to know your theory.

rockets are needed in space the problem is the fuel is very heavey.

what we need is a big hydrogen balloon to get the payload as high as we can and then use the hydrogen with compressed oxygen as a rocket fuel to go even higher or to achieve an orbit, temporary or otherwise.

Perhaps we need some more information such as how much is cheaply.

Its possible to launch things into space with a gun type method. During one of the first underground nuclear tests, the bomb got stuck in the shaft before it got to the bottom. It couldnt be raised or lowered so they just blew it up anyway. There was a manhole cover at the top of the shaft that wasnt secured. It launched and has never been seen again. Calculations show it may have exceeded the earths escape velocity....it could well be on its way to interstellar space. However, being a manhole cover, it cant be tracked.

I dont believe you need a nuclear bomb for this either, just the right size gun barrel. I doubt it was a large amount of the bombs energy. Problem is you cant launch straight up to enter orbit. Its just gonna keep on going. To reach orbit you have to tip the ship to be horizontal at some point. You need a great velocity to stay in orbit because youre falling around the earth in orbit.

Balloons can get you over 20 miles up. Weather balloons can be bought online, i dont know how high they go before they pop though...and if you drop anything from 20 miles up, you better hope it doesnt hit anyone.

Hmmm....as your examples show...Getting something to the edge of space with a balloon is no problem. I've often wondered if you could raise a rocket to the edge of space with a balloon, and then launch it remotely (or with a timing system) to go the rest of the way into actual orbit.

Of course getting it back down to the Earth would be another problem entirely!

If I sent a lego man that high I would have put a parachute on it for the return journey and a little note saying please return me to my owner, I was launched from ........ etc

11.2 kilometres per second is the figure you need to get out of the gravitational pull of earth and be in "open space".

The cheapest current way is the way most space faring countries use...

Multi stage rockets.

A balloon lifting a rocket capable of escaping earth's gravitational pull would be huge, I'm sure with some time one could (and probably has) calculated what's required.

Richard Branson's space plane will possibly be the most efficient method soon.

We'll just have to wait for someone to build a space elevator.

Id just like to have something of mine that i can have data sent back to my computer of images or recordings.. even though it may just be pitch black, id let it float in space so before i die ill pass on my laptop tools to my kids & they pass it down to there kids & so on with a note saying, "Don't stop this project till you capture a image of a alien"

This guy did it, to the end of the atmosphere, with balloons.




But you want to go beyond the atmosphere..

So.. then you need a rocket, or other device that can make it go fast enough to get out of the gravitational pull, from Earth..

If you first lift up the rocket to the stratosphere.
And then activate the rocket from there.
And have it steer with a gyro, or pendulum, so it doesn't go back down again... :-)
It might work.

Why not make friends with an astronaut and give them the object to take as a personal item? They could launch it when they do a space walk.
