Not quite right.

It's not that light disperses more at high altitudes than at low altitudes, although that might be the case if you are moving away from the light source. In fact, you'd probably be more likely to observe them at higher altitudes (providing the light source was at a similar altitude) since the temperature drops more the higher up you go, so more chance of the right conditions for the right type of ice crystal to form.

I'd put it this way: False auroras are observed at low altitudes when ice crystals which are more usually found at high altitudes are present at low altitudes/close to the ground.

so, it's completely plausible that ice crystals are forming at low altitudes in the iraqi desert

i dunno, it just seems like the conditions for the phenomena to occur would be extremely scarce in such an environment.

Anybody find any more press or blog reports on a

new Israeli UFO sighting as described above?


I can't find anything, or any recent youtube video

or on 'rutube.ru', the Russian equivalent.


Is it all just a belated re-echo of the original June event?
