Ok genius... answer this question...

If you live on a flood plane, and a hurricane is coming your way. The data tells you there will be a 6-12 foot storm surge and low lying areas are going to flood, and once this storm starts they will not send no one to come get you...

does that make you an intelligent person if you choose to stay and then wonder why your street is flooding?

Again, that is not giving a middle finger to victims. That is stating the reality of this situation.

Again, I would not expect a "kid", as you called yourself, to understand the tough choices grown folks have to make.
Hey cut it out now sir i have explained i did all i can to help my lady freind
Please don't compare, saying i helped her but what did you DO ?. This is not a pissing contest
and it is very insulting to even question what i did to help my lady freind and comparing
i am upset as it is i haven't slept since yesterday...

I came on this thread to wish all americans well from my heart and i got this.

Again.. another foolish comment from a complete fool.

If this was the case, why are YOU not in your car driving to help?

I don't have a car, or a drivers license. I prefer to use a bike or a bus. Again, you are trying to divert this all to me. Let's see...my first post, very first post, in this thread was in lament for those who have been caught in this storm, and chiding those who have ridiculed the concern for said victims.

What was yours?

I am happy some of you mentioned the 11 dead... let us talk about those people for a minute. In all seriousness, all jokes aside.

After which you go on to explain exactly how every one of those people who were dead at that point were absolute morons and no one needed to mourn them. That takes heart, that really does. I wish I had that kind of compassion.

Yet I wouldn't expect some kid, as you called yourself, to understand the tough choices grown folks have to make.

*deep, calming breath* Okay. I am no longer a kid. I said I was a kid when Katrina hit. I have since grown in more ways than one, and from where I'm sitting, you look like the child. You have all of one argument to throw at me, and you'd rather argue than repeat the mission you're so proud of. That tells me a lot.

Additionally, you have no idea who I am, what I've been through, or what I'm like. Don't judge me. I have challenged you based on your needless disrespect for those who are suffering untold losses while you sit in your comfy house and type away on your computer. And your rebuttal is just more of the same. Saddening, it really is.

Don't even THINK about being condescending to me. After everything you've posted, condescension should be the last thing on your mind. Ironically, I'm unsurprised it's the first thing in your heart.

Actually I would if I could.. so whats stopping you? If it is that simple, why are you not out there?

Again you sit here and judge others, and YOU have done nothing.

Don't talk to me about caring. Don't talk to me about doing nothing. At this time, I'm doing more than you are. I am respecting them. You can't even manage that. My proof is in this post and my previous posts. In fact, it's in every post I've made in this thread.

Save me you baseless BS accusations of not caring. If I was apathetic and did not care, would I have rebuilt homes? Would I have risked arrest when the Military had the highways shut down

I also remember that American civilians were trying to use their own boats to rescue people and the FEMA people would not let them. Then they let armed Mexican troops over the border to help. That was a "what in the world" moment for me.

Sorry I missed your post in all the nonsense... my apologies.

Yes, the US military actually shut down the highway after katrina and refused to let people in to help. There were 18 wheeler trucks packed full of food, water, blankets, and everything these people could have needed that were literally parked on the side of the road and refused access. Some food spoiled.

Eventually some made their way in anyway. It was not easy, and it was a lot to risk. Many honestly believed they would be shot on sight if caught. Sadly, by sneaking in, we were unable to bring all the supplies. We had to take what we could carry and make our way in. Some came in by boat, some came in on foot, some came in using ATV's and going off road.

All i am going to say here is people like the OP only tend to post on politics.. I have no doubt him and several others playing down this storm have other reasons for doing so then being angry at "media hype"

The media make hype about every storm. They show their reporters in blowing wind trying to hold themselves up against the force and so on. It happens with every storm. The fact that the storm is hyped and people realize it does not mean people don't understand the damage done to people and their property. I remember the approach of Hurricane Frances, I think it was Frances, and the path kept zigzagging and no one knew where it was going to make landfall. And it just took forever.....

If all the media hype saved even one family from harm, it was worth every warning from the president right on down to a mayor from a burg with a population of 500. It was all worthwhile.

You can rave on all you want about how everything was blown way out of proportion, but the fact remains that a large proportion of the people in affected areas listened and got out of the way, maybe not saving themselves the misery of flooded or burned out homes, but definitely their lives. To think this was not a storm to be wary of is plain ignorance, imho, because its effects are still being felt in an area from the Carolina coast to Newfoundland and inland to Lake Michigan.

Good job, MSM, for being on the job and alerting a hundred million people to the snow, wind and flooding hazards that this storm has brought to eastern United States and Canada. Sure beats hearing about the latest Lindsay Lohan episode with the law.
