Monty Python's Prophets from The Life of Brian. With Transcrpition.

2012.

I suppose that there is something in it for everyone.

Personally I thought that ATS would go quiet concerning 2012, especially during the last month leading up.

Primarily because the 2012 mythos is being derived from a closed loop, and the stories have become stale and full of holes and no longer hold water. There has been nothing at all that meaningfully contributes enough variety to keep the ball rolling.

I thought it would become stale.

But nope. There are still folks posting on ATS, they are still trying to cobble together bits from the limited 2012 narratives,making new casseroles and seasoning them with frightening bits of poorly conjugated Judeo-Christian thought.

And today it made me think of the prophets from Monty Python's Life of Brian.

I have seen the movie several times and although I always get a laugh out of the prophet scene, I never really nailed down what they were saying. I have gone ahead and found a script from the movie so I will be able to reveal for us all the details of their prophesying.

One more thing before we go there, though.

It is hard to know when they are kidding and when they are serious, but the Monty Python crew actually derived as much as they could from Josephus when creating the script for Life of Brian (which was written during a two week water-skiing trip to Barbados). Eric Idle has been quoted as saying, "It is based on a load of Josephus".

oh but Frater X, your OP does not address the Prophets of "nothing will happen" and of "it'll be a day like any other"

not to mention all the "imma get drunk" posts but that's another subject.

that have befouled the 2012 forum with their incessant frantic poo slinging threads and the flaming of any who would point out the hypocrisy/irony of their position. it should be renamed to the 2012 poo-poo-ing forum as that it all seems now as they out number the doom/ascension/change of aeon/let's be positive/ and immanentization of the eschaton threads by a factor of a 100 to 1

Well I don't think we have ever taken that bunch very seriously, have we?

That's why I added the Josephus stuff. The Pythons worked that in to the script on purpose. It's intentional.

I have always liked you DLE. And I realize what I wanted to share with you.

It's our job as magicians to be a lysing agent, we serve a metabolic function, I like to think of us as macrophages.
