(CNN) -- Jessica Ridgeway's suspected killer is a 17-year-old neighbor who authorities plan to try as an adult, officials in Colorado said Wednesday. Formal charges against Austin Reed Sigg, a high school student who lived about one mile from the 10-year-old and her family, likely will be filed Monday, Jefferson County District Attorney Pam Russell said. As a general policy, CNN does not show the booking photo or name suspects who are juveniles, but in this case, police had mentioned Sigg's name and released his photograph in hopes the public could provide information related to the case. Sigg will face murder and kidnapping charges in death of Ridgeway, who was found a few days after she disappeared on her way to school on October 5. Her body -- which was "not intact," according to police -- was found at a park in Arvada, a Denver suburb just five miles from the family's home in Westminster.

Well... being in Colorado and all the craziness surrounding us, I'm not sure what to believe anymore. It is really sad that killers are becoming younger and younger. Nothing is making sense these days.

**Well I just discovered why I feel so weird about this. The suspected killer is the brother of a friend of mine. I can't "prove" this as I feel posting any pictures would be illegal or something. I would just feel wrong/paranoid about it. All I can say is this is a GIANT WTF moment!!!! I only met him once about 3 years ago or so. My friend kept everyone at arms length regarding her family. She also has another brother that lives with her mom that I didn't know existed until last year. I believe Austin lived with her for a short time. There was a lot of turmoil within their household. She went through a lot, but kept things to herself. We weren't extremely close. I don't think she let too many people in. I've just tried to contact her via the social sites I am on and all her accounts are deactivated. This is insane!!!**

What would compel somebody to do this to such a sweet young thing?
Jessica is a beautiful spirit. I can only hope she is in a better place now.

The whole "body not intact" thing gets to me the most. I can't understand how someone murders an innocent, let alone dismembers them? That's a whole other level of sadistic.

This should be a reminder to all at ATS that you never know who your neighbors really and truly are. That quite seemingly nice fellow down the street may secretly want to take a shovel to your head.

We live in a crazy world and it's only getting worse.

Yeah the whole dismemberment thing is what made me think this was more of some sort of ritualistic killing. Or it had to be a group of people. Not a 17 year old kid! Where on earth did he do everything?! It's not like the cities north of Denver where all this happened are remote areas! They are highly populated. Not a lot of open area, people always around, etc.

It's still early in the case so we might find out he wasn't alone. It still could be ritualistic. It certainly fits but they may not reveal any mention of ritual until during the trial.

I have a theory, that these kinds of murders are caused by extreme lust which develops due to the surroundings and brain imput of the young today. Urges and feelings so strong that they rule the child.

I am thinking they may hate their victims for the extreme lust they feel toward them and cannot control and thus the tortures or dismemberment. This also acts out the hate they hold for themselves.
