This is one of the funniest videos of any political candidate ever. John Edwards, metrosexual at large. Why would anybody trust him to protect them? This GI Joe would rather fix his hair than run the country.

"For a guy who's been known derisively to the Bush crowd as the Breck girl," observes Shearer, vice presidential candidate John Edwards seems "way too interested in his hair." He tries to straighten it with his fingers. A makeup technician approaches with a comb, but the senator likes it just so and does the combing himself. He signals he's ready for hair spray by closing his eyes expectantly, like a child. Then Edwards and the technician straighten a little more with their fingers. Please don't tell me that thing in his hand is a compact. Oh, dear. It is."

So what if he likes his hair a certain way, I know I like mines a certain way. You can't fault the man for doing his own hair.

In an age of TV politics if you're seen with bad hair you can be pounced on by the other side.

You want vanity then go look at Bushs hairs "altering colours" he seems to be flipflopping from brown to blonde to steely grey.

Who was that politician in Fahrenheit 911 that stuck his comb in his mouth and licked it twice before a tv interview?

Actually, when I read this I thought of the same thing. I'm pretty sure it was Wolfowitz.

Yeah, back in the summer the TV was showing how much Kerry and Edwards like to touch, punch, and hug each other. The media thought it was cute, and presented it to us as an example of how "human" Kerry can be.

Trouble was, a lot of undecideds were creeped out by the way those guys preen and touch. Plus the whole thing about Kerry using Botox didn't exactly help him with the ESPN crowd.

So they pulled those images, and the story was "disappeared."

All politicins use makeup on TV.
In fact everyone on TV is in makeup.
This thread is a waste of bandwidth

I think we all agree that "All politicins (sic) use makeup on TV." Politicians do also. However there is a vast difference between wearing make up for TV and obvious OCD in respect of your hair. I would hope that you had more content that a great coiffe.

Well at least he has respect for those who are viewing him so much that he goes the extra step to look nice for his audience.

Now take this idiot for instance that wipes his glasses on a producers shirt. Can we say disrespectful idiot.

No excuse for this

The really funny thing about this is the way he stares into a COMPACT mirror (aka a girl's powder mirror) throughout this whole grooming fiasco. Check it out... he's got a girl's mirror and is testing his expressions and 'looks' on it. Too funny!

Oh... and also note how he takes the comb AWAY from his hair dresser at one point to do all of this himself. The 'all politicians make themselves up' argument doesn't cover up for his personal fussing with the stylist's comb.

I'm sure Putin or Kim Jong il will really be afraid of him...

They all wear cover up, powder, light lip stick, have their hair styled, trimmed regularly, ect ect...

I'm surprised john kerry hasn't proposed a plan to have every single American be allowed free salon visits ect like all the politician's get.

.. After all looking great should be a right not a privelage...

Doctor's, make up artists and hair dresser's will be paid less but after all, these professions cost millions of people thousands of dollars every year...
it's time to socialize medicine and beauty.

The man takes care of himself. Any self respecting man exercises this to a degree. John has adapted this to his environment.

I never knew that compacts were only for the girlies. I guess men better start carrying around their medicine chest with mirror in tow.
