I think that's probably mostly the case.

Felix needed funding to do his extreme daredevil stuff. He got that. Red Bull got their publicity and David Clark Company got a live test the limits of their new pressure suit.

Felix can make some more money off of the huge bragging rights... books, endorsements, etc

But, yeah. I agree he mostly wanted the thrill of accomplishing the feat.
