The more I see about the candidates today the more I want a candidate like Carter

A lot of people villify Carter as a 'do nothing' president.

I would hands down vote for a candidate that promised to 'do nothing'.
There would be a certain comfort in knowing that in 4 years the country would be no more screwed up than it is now.

Carter was not a do nothing president he was a do nothing for the puppet masters president and that PO'd TPTB.

He upheld the law and the Constitution.
He was a champion of human rights and made them a central focus of foreign policy.
He created the departments of Energy and Education.
He negotiated the Camp David Accords.
He negotiated the Salt II Treaty.
He froze gas prices during the OPEC gas price gouging (Short of, reissuing sound money and abolishing a central bank this is the worst thing a president could do to unset TPTB)

He was a good man and villified for it.

Carter has a LOT to thank Obama for -- he is no longer considered the worst American President.

Carter was just the placeholder, like the rest, doing his little part to make our country crappier.
I doubt he was even aware of it. After all, what could be bad about this:

Nothing, on the face of it.
However, cut to today, and energy is way up, while education is way down.

Each administration, left or right, just adds a little bit to the quagmire of red tape and legislation we're bogged down in. I find these days, a "do nothing" politician is preferrable to the alternative.

True both DOE's have gone downhill in the 3 decades since then.

I don't think he had anything to do with their decline. What was he supposed to do sit there and hold their feet to the fire himself? Regan, Bush1, Bush 2 the The Clintons, and the last guy could have all kept them on the straight course or disbanded them but they didn't.

True. I don't blame Carter any more than I do the rest of those choads.
As I said, they're all just placeholders, and they all do their part to wreck the country.

I don't even think there's a real "agenda" making it happen. More the natural outcome of having greedy, corrupt, ineffective, and plain incompetent people involved at every level of government.
