People often say Mother Nature, but wouldn't it be more precise to call nature a bitch? Tsunami, disease etc. on the gross level, struggle and resistance on a subtle level - nature seems to be some sort of nemesis as far as humankind is concerned. Before anyone says 'but we too are part of nature', I make this distinction between us intelligent, thinking humans versus inanimate matter/plants/animals.

Put simply, it is us vs them, man vs nature. Do you have such an attitude - that nature is a bitch fit only to be conquered and not to be venerated or even explored?

Excuse the vulgarity.

Nature is a bitch that needs slapping? From time to time, yes, indeed, she needs a hearty slap!

And never forget: It's either the damn trees or us!

You seem to be focusing on a very, very, very, very (infinite very's) small percentage of what nature is. The larger picture, from the human perspective, seems to be a near infinite universe that remains stable and cyclical and allows for a variety of life.

She is neither. She acts without intention. You have to have intention to be a mother or a bitch. Nature is not loving, nurturing, angry, mean or cruel. She just is.

If we try to fight her, we lose. The lesson is to learn to live in her world as best we can. She has the power here. We are but her guests.

First of all, we need nature to survive. We need the forests and the vegetation in the seas. We are a hundred percent reliant on nature as is becoming evident with our neglects reaction to our food supply. Sure we can live without nature, a scientist can create tasteless meat which will cost a hundred dollars a pound if we cannot get enough organics to make it, basically plant life. We cannot survive on Mars without a constant supply of things from earth, something that will cost a very lot.

I see some think we can easily live aside from nature, this would be costly and we would be so dependant on those who make the fake food that we would be slaves to them. Think of Monsanto but a hundred times a powerful and with no compassion for us. These people are fools, why should we slave twelve hours a day just to survive. I guess people have limited perception, blinded by society. I can grow everything my family needs to survive on five acres, that includes all my brothers and sisters families also. It is relaxing work to do, not requiring a rat race lifestyle that is completely dependent on others. I choose to be in between both worlds though, knowing how to live in both.

So if someone thinks we can survive without nature they are fools, they will become slaves of tptb

It is not "Man" vs "Nature" because man is a PART of nature even if he doesn't believe himself to be...

Yes nature causes Tsunamis, Hurricanes, and all of that stuff;
but are you forgetting about the rain and food it creates that keeps up surviving?

Mother nature is not a Bitch, Mother nature is a one that understands the importance of balance regardless of our "feelings".

I agree with benevolent heretic, nature just is.

We are the ones who slap labels of "good" or "bad" on nature. And really nature is both good and bad....isn't it that way with everything? We all are a mix of both depending on the situation. Capable of great love or great hate.....we build we destroy, we give birth, we take life....we are nature, Man versus nature is man versus himself.....because we struggle with our own nature, just as much as we struggle with the environment around us....nature cannot be conquered,it can only be controlled, and it can only be controlled to a degree. Trying to dominate something like our environment only destroys us in the end.

I personally feel an affinity with most animals, and don't consider myself or any humans as separate from animals due to being considered "intelligent". I don't think intelligence amounts to much. Just another word for people to feel they are privileged.

Mother Nature is a Goddess concept from Babylonian Empire and which has been promoted trough New World Order, which has ties with the Black Nobility.

"Natural" catastrophes can be now manufactured (see HAARP, artificial creation of earthquakes, etc.) to make this "goddess Mother Nature" look alive. It pushes Crowley's New Age of Aquarius religion, which is New World Order's baby.

No, many of natures activities are instigated by mining for fossil fuels under oceans and deep inside land or for precious minerals hidden inside land and then processing them the fossil fuels effecting the atmosphere and land overall. Got to consider if you take out the natural EA*RTH lubricants/cushions or oil and gases the structure above them will be affected move slide more? Take out the electric conducting minerals gold/silver/platinum/iron ect then you have effected the STAR or SOL transmitting energies which in turn cause SOL energies to come in irregular and not precise? So no Nature is no female dog.

Agreed. I live with four dogs and when we speak of intelligence, we must consider who writes the intelligence tests... I assure you, if dogs wrote the intelligence tests, we humans would look clumsy, non-attentive and downright dense. But dogs wouldn't think to try to measure our intelligence against theirs. That, in itself, would be stupid, to them. But we humans must feel superior, so we make tests that prove we are.

Humans are as much a part of nature as whale pods are. But whales are far too intelligent to destroy their environment and go to war with other pods... I can't say as much for us, unfortunately...

I'm not sure how you can just sum Nature up like that. Is nature a B****? NO. Can Nature be a B****? Yes Of all the beautiful, positive, and amazing things in Nature and you sum it up to only the small amount of negatives it has. Nature gave you life, do you hate it so much for doing so? Just because someone acts like a B**** from time to time does not make them always one. Yes, Nature can act like one from time to time from our judgmental point of view but it is simply going through the motions of creating balance which is Natures nature. Placing an all encompassing label on anything or anyone is judgmental ignorance based on a singular tunnel vision outlook. That's my opinion such as it is.

Edit to add: It is the same when attempting to call Nature Mother. Mother is only part of what it is. Is your Mother simply that or is she more complex than a single label?

Our cats think we are good providers but think we are a little slow. They know their the bosses, we just haven't figured that out yet. I think being a pet is the next step up in reincarnation.

The idea of man vs. nature makes me picture a boxer in a dark corner swinging at himself.

They'd call us stupid since we couldn't hear and see the things they can, so we'd fail their tests.

That was a horribly egocentric perspective, don't you think? Earth is a living being, not a static sphere for your convenience and pleasure. There are systems at work here and what happens at any given time and locus is the result of many influences. Parts of Earth require a shake up now and again, a washing away, or whatever other effect one can possibly imagine. There is no vendetta just because your home is in that spot. It's not all about you.

Broaden your perspective. Deepen your understanding. Raise your awareness. Man is not the only living thing here. We humans don't call the shots. Bow humbly and accept your place in the scheme of things. Maybe you'll get some respect back someday when you are as great.

Nature is not a cardboard box, it is a dynamic realm, like being caught in a clothes dryer - think, would you like to live in a plain and boring world? Those that come from such places think that our tumultuous world would be the most fun that they have ever had, whilst we think that their worlds are some sort of "paradise".
