During WW2, we were fighting Japan. In vietnam, hand-to-hand combat could have been prevented and so could influenza. Scientists said that we may have never have recieved the virus if it wasn't for the war. But I say, that we would have found it some other way. Some virus are even triggered when you dig deep enough into something, and let out some sort of toxin, or pathogen.

Perhaps a bit more reading might change your mind:

The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as "Spanish Flu" or "La Grippe" the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster.

Indeed, the flu had been around for a lot longer than that.

As to "hand-to-hand combat" not being necessary in Vietnam, well, yes if we'd never gone into Vietnam it would have been unnecessary.

And viruses aren't toxins. They're living organisms. Influenza is a very old disease in animals that has mutated naturally to the point that it affects humans.

But not exactly inert. Viruses are merely RNA or DNA strands that interject themselves into a host and use the host organisms structure to reproduce. Viruses have always been around, it's the mutation process that gives rise to new ailments in plants, animals and humans.
