Gordon cooper comes clean on UFOs

Gordon cooper was a very well repected astronaut he was part of the apollo program and gemini. He was a firm believer in ufos because he saw them on numerous occasions and he also believes in the sytematic manner with which the US collects, covers up, analyses and then possibly reverse engineers non human aircraft.
If the general media will still not take this seriously then what is it going to take? even if his story is believed nobody will take it any further for fear of ridicule and the little green man treatment, it pisses me off

Gordon Cooper, although a "new ager" by some peoples' standards, is certainly not your garden-variety nutbar.

I'd like to see the government come clean (if they really are hiding things), but I doubt they ever will.

Meanwhile, coming up with hypotheses for what may be (and probably is) nothing at all seems like a waste of time, but then again, if you have time to spend, it's certainly a harmless hobby.

Assuming for the sake of argument that the US government is covering up, the only time they will come clean is when they perceive it to be in their own best interest.

What that means for me is that they will never discuss this topic openly unless the news breaks in an undeniable way from some other source. At that time they will want to put their own spin on things so they would start talking. But even then we would get propaganda intended to shape our perceptions on the subject. Certainly that would not be the unvarnished truth.

On a subject of this importance, we will never be able to count on governments playing it straight.
