9 Year Old Autistic Boy Beaten by Police in School Illinois

You should go to a school for autistic children and try dealing with them and see what its like before saying something like that. These special needs kids are hard to control and deal with,and the parents have to deal with them on a daily basis.

Even if this child wasn't autistic that is NO excuse for the police to deal with a 9 year old in that manner.If they're training in how to deal with people is that far out of sync then they need to go back to the academy and relearn.

My question is why were the police even there to begin with? And why would the teachers have the police be dealing with the children? Maybe a harder look needs to be put on that school?

I agree the child is in a special school for Autistic children. So these "specialized" teacher do not know how to deal with children? Before calling the police why not call the parents. I do know that here in Florida there is a police officer stationed at every school. Maybe this officer was stationed at the school? More information is need. A statement from the parents would be great.

This is so sad. He's only 9. How can you throw a kid down and cause a black eye, at that age! Just a horrible story.

Here is a small statement from the mother

Kirchner said she is upset because she recently discussed a plan on how to handle her son if he has an outburst. She believes the plan wasn’t followed and she has concerns that police placed her son in handcuffs before she was ever contacted. Since the incident she has removed her son from the Quincy Public School system and is investigating home schooling options.

So it appears that a plan was made with teachers if the child had a outburst. I doubt the plan involved a officer throwing her child into a wall. Good for her pulling her child out of public school. My next step would be filing a lawsuit.
