What is wrong with people and what are these recent topics about ahmadinejad? As a Persian (iranian citizen) I'm shocked. DId you guys know what he did before he was the "president" of Iran? Do you guys know what happens to people in Iran who do not agree with the regime or question the regime? Do you know how many people have been murdered and tortured to death because of their personal beliefs or religious views? My mothers cousin was executed.
Please

So are you saying the people of Iran would welcome a 'humanitarian aid regime change' uprising/attack backed by the UN like that of Libya or Iraq?
Coolio. Lets start the Iran invasion and overthrow their established Government ASAP, this is the permission we need. Clearly Irans citizens want to see what happened to Libya and now Syria happen in Iran, except 100x worse. Great... now we have the confirmation needed to know that is what most of Iran's citizens want. Clearly this anonymous poster speaks for all Iranian citizens.

The problem is, a lot of people (myself included) don't know anything about they guy, or what goes on behind closed doors in Iran.
I used to think Iran was just like most places in the ME (Iraq etc), a lot of sand and camels (I know there is more to the ME than that, just trying to get my point across).
Then you see Ahmadinejad speak on talk shows, or at the UN, and he comes across as someone who (despite his obsession with getting rid of Israel in favour of Palestine) wouldn't be out of place here on ATS.
He talks about conspiracy, corruption, world peace, everyone getting along and respecting each others traditions.
Ok, he hates Israel, not the Jews, just the ones occupying what he believes is Palestinian territory, when I seen that video of him meeting Jews in America, there was a genuine feeling of friendship amongst them.
He doesn't deny the holocaust, just the involvement of Palestine, and the actual death toll, all he wants is historians to be allowed to reopen the issue and find out the truth, nothing wrong with that.
His country persecutes homosexuals (I don't know if this is true or not), it wasn't that long ago homosexuality was frowned upon in the western world, we learned to accept, respect and understand it a bit quicker.
So, whilst it still seems to have some of the ME medieval traditions (especially towards women), it still seems like one of the better places in the ME, and if we are to take Ahmadinejad at face value and at what he says, a lot of our leaders could learn something from him.
This is just how it comes across to me from what little I know or have seen/heard.
You say you are an Iranian citizen, why don't you tell us your story to give us another view to go by straight from the source.
I am open on the issue, I don't want to think good of a bad man, but I don't want to think bad of a (semi) good person based on hearsay or what propaganda our leaders expect us to believe.

I could Google all day for answers, and the majority of what I read could be biased on the writers opinions.
I am a seeker of truth on all subjects based on facts, with credible evidence to back it up.
I have no definite opinion on the man or the country, I only have what I have seen/read so far, and until I have solid evidence either way, I won't have a solid opinion.
Can I give you a piece of advice seems you are a new poster with obvious anger issues (do you need a big cuddly hug?), respect other peoples opinions here on ATS, even if they differ greatly from your own.
It doesn't just keep you within the ATS T&C, it also makes you a better human being, and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.edit on 28/9/12 by woogleuk because: (no reason given)
