Man threatens to detonate bomb on Main St.

Salt Lake Police stopped TRAX train service Thursday night after a man claims to have a bomb and is threatening to detonate it.

People were evacuated from surrounding buildings in the area while police are talking to the suspect located at the TRAX platform on 186 S. Main Street.

Utah Transit Authority said via Twitter that their Blue and Green TRAX lines were going to be temporarily delayed. They have buses picking up TRAX passengers.

FOX 13 will have updates when further information is released by authorities.

Ok watching this on the news. So far here's what happened.

Guy claims to have a bomb. Called into bomb threat to police station. Then sits on the side of the road on main street salt lake. (There were camera shots of him taking water bottles and snacks out of a bag) The area was evacuated and police swarmed the scene..

They appeared to be negotiating with him, a shot was fired. Confirmed that he was in fact shot and media suspects it was a police sniper.

As of now they the bomb robots are in there two of them.

No, he says that a shot was fired. Not that the guy wanted to be hired. And I think the guy had a bomb. The coppers gave him a free bullet, it seems. He can sell it and buy a lollipop. Who needs work.

I am reminded for some reason, of that pizza delivery guy who was neckbombed and the police did not want to have a bar of him as they stayed at a distance and refused to listen to his pleas, and the poor sod exploded on camera.

Don't know much about this guy, and we are living in a world where even the old grey haired gramps up the road probably has a basement full of lotion and buckets...
