NEW YORK (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday disregarded a U.N. warning to avoid incendiary rhetoric and declared ahead of the annual General Assembly session that Israel has no roots in the Middle East and would be "eliminated."

Ahmadinejad also said he did not take seriously the threat that Israel could launch a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities, denied sending arms to Syria, and alluded to Iran's threats to the life of British author Salman Rushdie.
The United States quickly dismissed the Iranian president's comments as "disgusting, offensive and outrageous."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hinted Israel could strike Iran's nuclear sites and criticized U.S. President Barack Obama's position that sanctions and diplomacy should be given more time to stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
"Iran has been around for the last seven, 10 thousand years. They (the Israelis) have been occupying those territories for the last 60 to 70 years, with the support and force of the Westerners. They have no roots there in history,

No roots in history?
Once again who is the instigator, I know I have heard all the arguments from all sides.
How people can continue to ignore there is a bigger problem than Israel is beyond me.
Im very skepticak of US media translations.
Correct... as he said no ROOTS in history..! ( the history you know is forgery)..!

"Ahmadinejad is also set to meet American university students, artists, intellectuals and elites, including Occupy Wall Street anti-capitalist protestors, despite the ongoing efforts made by the pro-Zionist lobbies to prevent direct link between American people and the Iranian president," the Iranian organ Fars News reports.
Earlier this year American professors gathered in Tehran to discuss the supposed virtues of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
An alarming news report from Iran's Press TV, a propaganda arm of the Iranian government, showing American professors gathering in Tehran to discuss the Occupy Wall Street Movement:
The professors interviewed on Press TV include Alex Vitale of Brooklyn College, Heather Gautney of Fordham University, and John Hammond of City University of New York.

I'm very skeptical of US media translations.
We now know Iran never said "wiped off the face of the planet" but instead said "erased from the pages of time".
Its important to remember that this is a fight that the Middle East/Iran etc., never started.
The founders of Israel descended down on that region in the 1940s on the basis of their religion.
The West has been attacking since at-least 1953 with the overthrow of Iran's government via Operation Ajax.
Yet Iran is portrayed as the aggressor...

I suggest you read the comments on the roots thread I posted as well.
Ahmadinejad appeared to reject Washington's position that while it condemns the video's content, freedom of expression must be upheld. "Freedoms must not interfere with the freedoms of others," Ahmadinejad said. "If someone insults, what would you do? ... Is insulting other people not a form of crime?"
