The contestants in this experiment were asked to love someone as hard as they can.

They had imaging of the brain by a functional MRI scan.

Whoever activated the love area (nucleus accumbens apparently) most would win a prize.

vimeo.com...

I preferred one contestant`s definition of loving someone as "allowing them to grow into the person they were supposed to be or letting them evolve".

So what does the experiment prove?

Felt like I was watching a commercial.

It's interesting but at the same time frightening.

If scientists would figure out the whole secret of love, they might want to create a drug that makes love impossible to feel!
Or another to make you love anything or anyone, including mosanto.

Or maybe a mad scientist could create a love inducing virus that makes you love EVERYTHING around you, now THAT'S scary!

I wonder if the same part of the brain would be detected if the participants were asked to focus on hate? You know, because often hear how love and hate are two sides of the same coin.
