Whoa. Fish or dolphin art. That's my guess. You know what we should do, since only 5% of all the oceans have been explored, is task someone who can astrally travel to explore them for us, and then report if there is anything interesting...like other than fish or animals. I don't know how that type of traveling works, so the explorer may need to astrally burglarize a dive shop before heading out. And they should have an astral partner as well, because one shouldn't dive alone. Now that's the best idea I've ever had in my life...which is probably pretty sad.

Puffer Fish.....the 5th best artist on the planet...

I wonder how many other animals/fish/whatever are capable of creating beautiful art like this.

Look up Bauer Birds, they create amazing nests arranged in a way only artists could appreciate

Actually there's many animals that have very artistic impressions they leave on this planet, I could spend hours looking at the patterns of bacteria all the way up to the migration groupings of herd animals or the songs of whales and birds

What an amazing design that this fish managed to create. I never would have guessed a puffer fish created this let alone any sea creature.

No wonder I was so drawn to these fish during my childhood!

I hate to say this as I know nature is able to creat wonders but, there are many many puffer fish and this is the first these circles have been seen?

"Considering no one had ever encountered anything like it, diver and underwater photographer Yoji Ookata was at a loss to explain what had built the circular, repeating, and clearly geometric structure."

That is odd, also seeing the fish on it's side in the gully I have to wonder how they get the middle and outer circle so straight just by floundering around. Could it be that they are using the pits as a convenient nesting site and did not make them. I only wonder as they have not been seen before,

Also there are a lot of captive puffers i wonder how they nest and mate.

The Puffers dig in the sand to find snails and such to eat, could it be there is just a lot of snails in the grooves and he is digging them along the already existing lines.

I will be convinced when I see film of a fish creating one of these from scratch.
edit on 21-9-2012 by Char-Lee because: (no reason given)

The pictures in the thread don't show what scale these circles are on my first thoughts was of a sea creature making these....

Nature never cease to amaze me - not only awesome at natural defenses but also extremely artistic, too - the males would be quite a catch
