Oh yeah! There's a lot to like in his work.

His death was rich with black humour and irony. To avoid a train crash, he boarded a ship laden with iron stoves, plowshares, sewing machines and probably five drunks doo-wopping around a burning barrel.

You'll probably enjoy a browse through Aeron Alfrey's Monster Brains blog. Imo it's the best archive of weirdo/magical/faerie/Gothic art and artists on the internet.

I remember this book! Wracking my brain...could it have been a blue cover and part of a series of books?
