I would like to conduct a poll of ATS members to find out what is closer to the truth. Do you support Kerry because of something he has done that makes you want to vote for him, some belief that you share with him, or something else that makes you like him. Or, are you supporting him because you are under the motto 'anybody but Bush'. Or are you voting Bush because you hate Kerry or is there something that Bush believes in that you share, somehthing he has done to make you support him

If you are just voting against a candidate include what it is about that candidate you dislike and most importantly what makes you think the candidate you are voting for is better.

Well since there are no takers yet I will start it off. I am voting for Bush because I trust him as a leader. I believe that as far as politicians go he is far more honest than any one else running. You may not like what he has to say but you know where he stands.

I agree- I support President Bush. A lot of people get on him about his lack of grace in giving speeches. It shows me that he actually forms his sentences while he is speaking, he is thinking about what he is saying, not just reading what someone else wrote for him to say.

I also feel, in this day and age since 9/11, there are serious threats that must be dealt with in this world, and obviously sitting on our butts and catering to the terrorists and governments who just want our aid as the last administration has proven, has done nothing to help the situation.

Kerry to me is an a hole. I feel he is very dishonest and rude. I don't care for his policies, and after the 3 debates I still don't really fully know what they are.

Are the Kerry voters purposefully dodging this poll because they don't want to disclose they are only voting for Kerry because they hate Bush.

Its a damn shame there isnt a "NO VOTE" button in this election poll on ATS. This will be the first election vote I have to respectfully decline.

Damn good idea BJ. This type of voting has nothing to do with issues. It should be noted. If I was American I would like to vote for Badnarik, would vote Lib. for congress but would probably vote Kerry because I distrust Bush SOOOOOO much.

Thats if you watch the polls. Its funny, when Kerry is up on the polls, Its the top story. Anyway, Bush is a good man. He is what we need. Not just because of the war. His domestic policies reflect thought. Not the same tax and spend

BUSH is my Pres

I'm for Kerry/Edwards, we are building a huge deficiet, medical costs are through the roof as are premiums for any type of health care coverage. We are loosing jobs, fuel prices are skyrocketing along with everything else.

I just have to ask myself if I'm better off than I was four years ago, and the answer is no.

I'm voting for Kerry. First Democrat I've ever voted for. Out of the two, there's no way I'm voting for Shrub. He is so in over his head it's scary. Anyone watching the debates had to have seen that.

Here's one good reason to vote for Kerry: He said he wants to add two more Army divisions. That's a good start. (I was against the drawdown in the early 90's for this very reason.) If we did that, we wouldn't even be discussing a possible draft.

What's that? BushCo said they're not gonna re-enstate the draft? Yeah right, folks.
And they swore up and down they knew where the weapons of mass destruction were!

You do know that the congress has to vote 60% for the draft. Then it goes to the pres.

And you don't think this anti-war trader (Kerry) who voted against every weapon system, not to mention the funds to support the troops would really increase the number of troops.

Please open your eyes, think, Vote for Bush

Voting For President Bush, I trust him with our country and our military. I have read a lot about both men and their history, background. I will go with President Bush. I don't think Kerry has the history that we need for a leader.

Open my eyes? HELLO! You are missing a lot of information, my friend; and swallowing alotta BU#. So ya know, I'm a Republican and I have the facts. You better believe the draft is coming back if Bush is re-elected. And ya know what? You're probably gonna get drafted yourself. Unless you're over 35. If I were you, I'd think about it long and VERY hard. I'm not worried. I've been over there and I've already done it.

As for the complete distortion of Kerry's voting record.. that's all it is. You need to do some research instead of taking the word of complete liars. It was CHENEY as SECRETARY of DEFENSE who was pushing cutting those weapons systems, my friend. I remember. I was there.

Yeah boy!

I'd rather have an ex-cheerleader lead our country into war than a bona-fide war hero.

Bush is not real bright and he appeals to people who are not too bright.

The man is so spineless he has not vetoed a SINGLE spending bill, and every one of them is loaded pork and maggot provisions.

John F. Kerry is intelligent enough that I feel he is trustworthy of guiding this nation. This nation that is the current super power of the planet. His heart is in the right place, 'With the People'.

Bush is a sociopathic gladhander. He supports corporate greed and corruption and scr*ws the American people.
Maybe you like being scr*wd, I don't. I'm tired of seeing the American people ripped off by corporate American.

To be perfectly honest I dislike Bush more than i like John F. Kerry. Partly because John F. Kerry is not a totally known quantity. I am not behind his health care plan. Clinton came in on that and in the first year dropped it. Perhaps Kerry will do the same once he has all children in the Nation health insured.

Bush is making a MESS of the war on terrorism. The man is just stupid. He may be rich enough to move to another nation after making us a target for terrorists, I am not.

John F. Kerry will help America live WITH the world and NOT AGAINST it.

I vote for President Bush.

He is the strong leader we need in the world after 9/11. I trust him on his policies for healthcare and education. The tax cuts were needed to stimulate the economy. Yes we have a deficit now but we have been through a recession, 9/ll, and a war. Kerry says he would never go over a budget cap. What would he do with all of the hurricane disasters, 9/11 and war expenses. Just say "NO". I also believe that I can trust him because he respects life...unborn or stem cell.
Guess I will get flamed for this, but so what?

I'm definitely not better off than I was 4 years ago. I was laid off due to our horribly failing economy (living near and working in Cleveland, my job at a non-profit agency which supported and promoted careers in the metalforming industry was "dissolved" ~ along with many others in this crappy town, jobs sent overseas, etc.)
Now employed again, the healthcare offered through my present place of employment would cost me a mere $485 a month! oh yeah i can afford that! Sure. Yet, I make too much money to receive any sort of medical benefits/assistance through the public scam, errrrrr ummmmmm i mean 'scheme' of healthcare. Kerry's not exactly my #1 choice, but he's got my vote (almost a lesser of two evils sort of thing). I want Bush out of office. A side note.....I don't feel the abortion issue is something to base your political leanings/voting on (wow i wish my mom was reading this). I know too many people who won't even bother to look at other issues involved in electing our next Fearless Leader because of the "respect life" issue. *sigh*

For me, it's a question of the kind of people I want running the country. I know where the top Republicans in the Bush administration come from, and I know where the Democrats come from.

The Republicans are crooks, scam artists, and religious fundamentalist cult leaders. These people's sole goal is to loot the whole country for themselves, and their associated scam businesses, which inevitably fail, and screw over the economy. These are the type of people, who care nothing for any morals, and care nothing about productive work, that doesn't involve cheating someone.

The Democrats are more a combination of pragmatists and idealists. There are corrupt Democrats, but they just want the money. They don't make an extra effort to be scumbags. The Democrats also start with more idealists, before they get corrupted by the system. Even when they get corrupted by the system, I think the Democrats still hold to some values to some extent. Their backers businesses are also less harmful and more beneficial to society.

I respect that John Kerry spoke out against the VIetnam war, and that his congressional comittee helped expose a bunch of the Reagon crooks. His past may not be perfect, but I don't think it is possible to be part of the system, and be perfect. I think if he is elected, he will try to do what he thinks is best America. I think he can actually start dealing with terrorism, instead of just bul#ting about it like Bush.

People on this site, and elsewhere have all these theories about how the world works. I've seen all this stuff about both Kerry's and Bush's pasts, secret societies, and all sorts of institutions, which supposedly control this or that or whatever. They all too often seem to ignore how these things will actually effect real people. I don't care whether someone wants to label something as good, bad, conservative, liberal, communist, republican, democrat, or whatever else. I care how these things actually effect real people. If some crazy mechination is going on in the halls of power, and it somehow turns out to work out well for world, then I'm for it. I'm sick of the Republican's nonsense proganda, lacking in actual meaning. I want a government, which believes in substance.
