Nice that you would defend a fellow member. I often wanted to express the same reply... some are and some are not persay...

Often wonder if it was worth it... posting that is!

I read more then I write here.. safe zone...

Humor makes it worth it however, when I have the time... Like minds brings be back.
Take care!

Kinda odd as to what been going on in the middle east today and such.
Not to be off topic but what happened today and the event's of yesterday the 13th and to my original reply on this topic and the coincidence of what happened in Tehran on the 13th also in this link below is quite puzzling at best.

Video show's simular footage to the original OP Imho.

I seriously think something did indeed go down on the 13th of september. If anyone else has any perpective or idea's as to what please share, thanks.

That (OP's son's photo) could be a missile test. In Los Angeles, it's a regular thing to see, quite beautiful, missile testing that goes on at Vanderberg AFB.

The first one I saw looked something like a rainbow aurora borealis, but was really just ICBM testing. Modern marvels.

LOL! that video was funny, there was something more to this story. The whole idea of of just for the hell of it let's launch a poweful missile just for the hell of it does not set right with me.

Good fine!
Good observation... Looking at it close, your right. I tought I could make out the same shape in those clips that were taken here as well.(USA)

Timing of all this.. yea more to it I presume.

Thanks for your insight!

Well supposedly this was a missile launch from White Sands NM...... Well, that's what we are being told anyway. I watched a video of this and I can't understand how the only thing seen is a trail of smoke up in the air. Where's the trail of smoke from its launch point and then following the missile? Why is there just a small section of smoke being seen in the video's and pictures? Have a look at this....
CNN ireport video

Now, have a look at a Space Shuttle launch as captured from an airplane up in the sky.We all know the Space Shuttle is nothing more than a souped up rocket/missile right? You can very clearly see the smoke trail from the launch and then trailing behind it......

Edit: By the way, I am older enough to remember the west coast missile defense system Nike. You know, before current technology when they tipped these with nukes. Heres a look:

intrptr,

I owe you an apology because, re-reading your post, I see that you were only discussing a possible attack in the most general of terms. I think my problem was that I had just come from reading some thread on Iran and US/Israel intentions to attack it, so I had Iran on the brain. And it was late at night when I read it. We all know what happens when one assumes...

Not old enough to have seen active Nike missile sites, but I know about them and visited the concrete pad remains of one in the San Gabriel Mtns, overlooking L.A.

So thanks for the reply and setting me straight.

jessemole,

Glad you have a sense of humor about you when you read my posts, and that you took my posts to you in the right spirit. For the record, those mottoes I mentioned are NOT the case. That said, I understand your safety concerns. However, I imagine that they have some wide swaths of real estate just for these purposes and I can't believe that commercial flight paths lie across these missile ranges or at least that some coordination with the FAA is done when these fairly rare tests occur. 6am local is usually not a time that passenger airliners are flying, I don't think. Given they have been testing missiles/rockets for many years and, as far as I know, haven't had any "mishaps" with planes, it would seem they have a fairly good safety protocol worked out.

I saw a picture that looked like your son's picture on the news the other day. The newscaster said the government was testing something (they explained it, but I don't remember exactly what was said).

Now that pics are provided I realize that I also witnessed the phenomenon and felt it was so unusual that I mentally kicked myself because my camera is in the repair shop.

It didn't appear to be over Phoenix but more to the south (over Tucson from my vantage point), high but at cloud level, and illuminated by sunlight at about 5:30am before the sun popped into view over the mountains.

I doubt that it was a rocket smoke as it did not dissipate but remained complete with relatively sharp lines and in full view for nearly an hour and also doubt it was an interface between wx systems because of its irregular shape and pointed edges. There were no lines to and from it either

It was impressive because I've never seen anything like it before and my thought at the time was that a riff between dimensions (or some such) would look exactly like that. But when nothing else happened I stopped watching except for the occasional glance

I don't have a clue but will watch for more as both weird and cool.

They're shooting rockets over Arizona???

Firstly:
Does any one know this Cibola National Forest well and would they be able to find the spot
where the booster landed??

"The contrail we saw was likely the aftermath of the launch,
as well as from the Juno's booster, which separated from
the target and landed in the Cibola National Forest."

www.azfamily.com...

Secondly:
Is the time on this a misprint?
It states :

Juno ballistic missile that was fired at 6:30 a.m. MDT

I thought the original stated time was 5:30 A.M.

A spokesman for the U.S. Army’s White Sands Missile Range tells The Associated Press the contrail was from a Juno ballistic missile that was fired at 6:30 a.m. MDT Thursday from Fort Wingate near Gallup, N.M. The Juno missile was then targeted by an advanced version of the Patriot missile fired from White Sands.

With all of the skyrocketing numbers of forest fires because of the severe drought this year,
just how wise was it to actually have a plan for the booster to land in a National Forest

By the way great thread jessemole

Be sure to thank your son for all of us at ATS

I'm surprised after reading this thread how many people are accepting this "missile test" story. What kind of missile leaves a trail like that that illuminates the sky? How did it create that rainbow like cloud at the peak and make a U-turn?

I don't know what happened, but for me a missile launch doesn't add up.
