It seems suspicious to me that the US Ambassador to Libya would go to the consulate to evacuate staff. It sounds like total bs. Why would he do that? There was obviously risk of violence. He is also the guy that any protesters would target. So why would he go? Was he a pro evacuator or something? No phone? Why?

And it is being reported that he died of asphyxiation and the doctor didnt even know who he was when he was dropped off. But he had no other injuries.

The photos being released make me wonder why the doctor didnt know who he was. The doctor says he was brought to the hospital the night before with no other Americans and initially nobody knew who he was. He must have had an idea. And the doctor says he tried to revive him for 90 minutes.

Does any of this stuff sound like bs to anyone else? It sounds like bs to me.

Why does the Egyptian Ambassador to the US go to Houston, TX?

Because Houston has an Egyptian Consulate.

What?

He went there during the protest to help evacuate staff. Does that makes sense to you?

And again, what? What the heck are you talking about?

It's called being a responsible leader. If you have employees in danger go and help them out. Do anything and everything you can to help them.

Egyptian Consulate in Houston

And yes they go during protests, it's a common practice. What's an Ambassadors job?

Diplomacy.

'Nuff said.

Its called being a responsible leader? Its called being stupid. Worked out great didnt it?

And no, it is not the job of an ambassador to evacuate staff from a dangerous situation.

Agreed it isn't prudent (not stupid), but what in politics is?

Ambassadors FREQUENTLY go to consulates to speak with the crowds. Learn a little history.

Several Ambassadors from many countries have died due to this, unfortunately.

I bet no further US Ambassadors attempt to go anywhere near 'protests' in the near future.

And it still seems odd to me.

It's against self-preservation instincts, but so is sliding down a rope from a helicopter into a burning oil field while being shot at to rescue some of my countrymen.

A little story.

But hey, there is a reason it's called courage.

I cant read that. I am against the 'war' in Afghanistan. I do not see anything about Afghanistan to be heroic. Its just a mess to me.

But as a soldier, wasnt that your job? As an Ambassador, I dont think the guy is trained or capable of helping. He would have known that. What could he tell them that he couldnt say on the phone?

It's about Iraq and has nothing to do with being heroic, read the post. Your on ATS so "Deny Ignorance" or get off the forum.

As for the phone...

You hop on the phone and address a nation. I'll stand in front of them and speak. Who do you think will sway more minds?

It works for loons too, i.e. check out the dictators of the world.

That was me being nice so I dont offend you.

And no thanks. I do not want to hear your tales about how much of a hero you are. Lets just say I strongly disagree.

And you make no sense again. Im not sure what you are babbling about but I am saying that the guy could have warned them by phone.

Are you saying he couldnt have warned them by phone?

He could have. So why go to the embassy? You wouldnt do it. This is bs.

It seems as though he has been lynched. many are saying it on the net right now. It also seems that the small group knew where a safehouse was. Seems there is alot of odd things that dont add up about this. Its very suspicious.

And you telling me that you are some hero has nothing to do with it. Telling me Houston has an embassy has nothing to do with it. Babbling about a phone has nothing to do with it.

Way to educate yourself, unless you read the post you have zero basis to claim anything.

He was suffocated and then drug through the streets, check your sources. As I said he went to the Embassy to SPEAK TO THE PROTESTORS, either to calm the protestors or buy the consulate time TO EVACUATE. This concept isn't hard to grasp, nor is it not based in history. This is not the first, nor the last time this will and has happened. Take a history class.

And you telling me that you are some hero has nothing to do with it. Telling me Houston has an embassy has nothing to do with it. Babbling about a phone has nothing to do with it.

I'm not a hero, I did a job and some of things I did I still lose sleep over, but you wouldn't know anything about that, would you? Your an armchair warrior with little to no real world experience.

I bring up Houston because of incidents like this -> Protest outside Indian Consulate in Houston.

Keep being close-minded. I guess it's done you wonders in life.

How many times have you said that? I bet heaps.

And you know nothing about me. I will tell you that I find arrogant ex military people to be insufferable.

I would look you in the eye buddy.

edit- I dont trust my 'sources'. And it is obvious that the truth is not being told.

What the heck makes you so sure? oh thats right. You will believe anything wont you?

I have actually. Want proof?
Article 1
Article 2
Article 3

I'm in some those pictures. Brave and Heroic may be synonyms but they mean different things. Courage is involved in both, but scope is different. Heroic & Brave

So arrogance is refuting you with logic and facts? Knowledge is power my friend.

I would look you in the eye buddy.

Bring it on, I've been tested and I know what I'm capable of. Have you?
I'm assuming you live in TX as evidenced by this post.

I'll be at the State Capitol tomorrow from 9am til at least 5pm for the TX-TF1 event. Care to come? Just U2U me when you get here.

Here's directions and everything-> TX-TF1 Event

Ha. I guess we can also check the many U.S. supported dictators of the world too, right?
