So now that's it's been established that the overwhelming majority, with me excluded...lol, were Republicans prior to becoming Libertarians...the question in mind........

Would you have voted for Bush?!

Can you explain it a bit more.

thanks
KJ

It is a little vague...lol

Take yourself either back to your previous political mindset, or your previous party affliation...you all were mostly Republicans....Did you vote for Bush or was he your motivating factor for change? And if you were still in that mindset/party, would you vote for Bush today?

I'm interested in seeing how many Libertarian's were such firm believer's in Republican values that they would or did cast their votes in that sector...

I wouldnt vote for Bush.

For several reasons, one of which is he (and the Republican Party) are a lie.

they are not for personal freedom or for smaller government they just mouth the words for those to blind to see the actions have NOTHING to do with the speeches.

Can any person name ONE thing they have done to make us more free OR to reduce the size and scope of government?

For the sake of the argument, I am a closet Libertarian.
And, although I know Bush etal do what they do, it's still better than the dems. Since I live in a state that seems to be going democrat, I feel Bush needs all the votes he can get. So, maybe for the last time, I will vote republican.

Maybe I don't have the strength of my political convictions, but a kerry presidency scares me more than a bush continuance.
I would truly like to see the two parties get shook up with a serious 3rd party contender.

amuk,

The reason demos say that a vote for Badnarik steals for Kerry, comes from the same place where they knew the 'intentions' of the average Florida voter. Comes from the same place were they teach tolerance, through a heaping helping of intolerance. Anything short of a vote for their man, is stealing. It is the same reason why when you point out the wrong doing of their candidate, regardless of the offense, they justify it.

Enron,

As for a vote for bushI have decided that I will most probably vote for Bush this go around..largely due to my coming here.

Ah, I got you. Well, to be honest, I was never into Rep. politics, but rather the Rep Platform (which obviously differ). I voted for Bush, but because I really did think that Gore wouldn't be better (basically voted against Gore).

This is where the most noticable sections of the stirring political divide happened. With 9-11, I saw the distruction of the Rep. Platform in that they really no longer used it as even a guildline practically.

I looked into the money (how much there was in Washington, because I live here).

I began to see the strangle hold the Big Two have and what happens between them (which is scary).

Put it to you like this. If there was no staging of the debates the president and Kerry would not have had the same American pin in the same spot and direction of tilt, the same suit, the same tie (although only slight shade difference), etc.

Two approaches, same result. I realized that the Federal government was the problem, but was unable to really talk about it. It lead me into some conspriacy theory thought and no outlet.

I found ATS, and with it a whole slew of other people who loved to talk about things that "Aren't for the dinnertable".

I am thankful for Amuk, for encouraging me to learn about some real solutions.

Not ashamed to share my voting record.
Nationally I tend to vote for the more conservative candidates. Voted Pappy Bush in 88, Perot in 92, Perot in 96, the only blip was when I voted Nader in 00.

Locally I have always tended to vote for the third party, and or the best person for the job. For instance in 02 I voted for Richardson for governor of NM, a Democrat, and Pierce for US Congress, a Republican.

Nationally I am looking for smaller government, and locally I am looking for someone to look more to social issues.
