The only way out, technically, is dying. But that's the bad news.

The good news is that any system of control can be manipulated and exploited... providing that you know the rules of the sytem!

In this case, our prison is what we individually chose to make of it. We can achieve great things, individually and collectively... ultimately possibly resulting in such an enormous paradigm shift that the word "prison" might evolve into "paradise".

It's all in what we choose to perceive - as the simple act of perception does have power.

Heff, excellent thread, thanks!!

This thread articulated some things really well that I need to spend more time considering. It also pointed out that the very reason I don't consider those things more often is that I am so caught up in everything else that is going on around me, especially the walls of my own prison. I just came off a 2 week on-call duty, and those chains never feel heavier than when I have just lost them, so this is really resonating with me right now.

So, currently I am trying to figure out how to "hold that thought" and not lose it in the business of the ant pile again.

This is why I am so reluctant to participate in what I call the Society Game, where you become a zombie in the cattle-herding market of corporations. Really, I can't explain it much better than you did, Heff. You know what I'm talking about. Anyone who read all of your OP knows what I'm talking about. I don't want to be in chains like that, but if I want to live any sort of decent life, what choice do I have?

So I have to outsmart the system, or I have to find some way of playing their game while fulfilling my own personal agenda. That will give me peace. Easier said than done, though...and that's where I'm at right now. Trying to figure out how to serve the people who need it while also serving myself, and not falling into the materialism trap.

The invisible prison only has mercy for those with the money to buy it. I'm not one of those people...and I probably never will be.

I enjoyed reading this thread,
and the part about the inmates/convicts,
made me think about this video.
This looks like a classic case of,
the inmates verses the convicts to me.
