The Federal Communications Commission is rapidly backpedalling from a proposal to tax broadband Internet service after a public outcry over the issue.

Democrats and Republicans at the agency are now blaming each other for pushing the idea in the first place.

Well, this is certainly good news.

I for one have had enough of all the crap the Govt. is taxing, and they are always on the lookout for something new to tax.

I especially like the politicians response to the public outcry. "It was the left's idea, not it wasn't it was the right's idea." Ha ha. Partisanship finally works out in our favor.

I wouldn't get comfortable though. I'm sure it will be snuck in somewhere in the future when we aren't looking.

A number of companies, including AT&T, Sprint and Google, expressed support for a broadband tax in comments filed with the FCC.

And of course the big provider and internet companies supported it. Bastards.

It certainly will, they made that point clear.

McDowell insisted that he meant the FCC should consider broadening the base to include fees on each phone line or other revenue sources—but not the Internet.

Both parties sound like little kids pointing their fingers at each other when they both got caught doing something wrong.

I take having to have a working phone line to receive broadband as my Internet Tax.

No doubt they will try and push it again.

Lumping additional fees onto already-high Internet service plans will only work to further turn Americans off of hiigh-speed Internet access.
