Having too much fears is the result of the love of material things, worldly relationships, and too much love to oneself.

Fear is not a constant depending on power.
-Those who have all the power in the world have the most fear.
-Those who have no power have no fear.
There is an infinite types of fear...but only one is real guess which one.
Hint: There are two types of fear.

The will to give and receive
The righteous asks for the Spirit of God, wisdom, truth, and the fulfillment of God's Will.
God's Will is turning the lost back to him.
Our God promises eternal life in return.
Are you expecting to receive the same things from God?
Or are there something else like happiness in the things of this world, better jobs, better house, better cars, better wife, better kids, better neighborhood, respect and adoration from men and women?edit on 1-9-2012 by ahnggk because: (no reason given)

First of all, I don't advocate many of the teachings of Old Testament especially in its treatment of material wealth and the 'good things' in this world (advocates it in some areas). If you test it without bias, many would not confess Jesus. You don't literally have to find the word 'Jesus'. Just many teachings do not agree with Jesus, therefore, does not confess Jesus.
Testing spirit - must confess Jesus came in the flesh - agrees with the teachings of Jesus - if you can't accept or don't want to live the radical teachings of Jesus, then you don't believe He came in the flesh.
Jesus never preached giving to receive in the context of material things. It is always, giving up the former things to receive the Spirit. Giving up your own life to receive eternal life.
Jesus did preached giving in terms of material things but did not promise receiving it back while you are still alive. "Sell all your possessions, give to the poor, and follow me". What ever the rewards promised is given back to you after this life, not in this life.
Jesus even warns working (giving/giving service) for food that spoils. When giving feast, don't invite friends, relatives because they will return the favor, invite the poor instead. Give without expecting any reward.
God Blesses with the truth, the Holy Spirit, wisdom, perseverance, long suffering, and joy. The Devil on the other hand, blesses with wealth, power, adoration and respect among men, self-preservation(by Peter!) and health (Devil tempting Jesus with these things).
Do not be deceived, Jesus knows our hearts. His radical teachings are for a reason and it may be the only way we could stop deceiving ourselves.edit on 2-9-2012 by ahnggk because: (no reason given)

Christ died for one reason: His death did what our lives could not. We cannot deceive ourselves into believing that we can duplicate this sacrifice. We cannot.
